    Markers

    I know most pros here don't play rated, but for those who do, do you have markers? I see the benefit of not having to travel with money. What are the disadvantages?

    There are a couple challenges outside of the obvious (known identity). If you plan on playing multiple properties you will need multiple applications and credit verification. If you get burned out at one property but have applied for credit at others you may be burned at those other locations more quickly. Or if you get burned out at one property you will need cash on hand to continue playing for the rest of your trip at other properties. If you have cash on hand, was the marker really necessary? Also it can be easier to track wins/losses for both the casinos and the IRS. Of course the list doesn't end there.

    On the positive side, depending on your level of play it can actually be a small bit of cover. Large players often take markers and with the pit believing they have verified your identity it puts them at a slight ease compared with unknowns. Also there is the added level of security when you can potentially travel with less cash on hand.

    Simply do not cash out (medium) large chips.
    They are just as secure as cash. Easy to transport.
    They are not only easier and safer to carry than cash;
    but you need not worry about C.T.R.'s and S.T.R.'s

    They can actually be cashed via certified U.S.P.S. mail.

    This is perhaps the best option for those with decent bankrolls playing a smaller Kelly. It becomes problematic for smaller bankrolls, playing higher Kelly or folks that travel a lot and play many different casinos.

    Just clarifying, what can be cashed by certified USPS Letter?
