Anyone else double down on 12?

Seems to work out favorably for me most of the time, though seems to annoy the dealer.

    What about you?

I did it on my first session ever, thinking I had an 11.

    Haven't done it since.

Saw a person playing two hands, doubling on 12 constantly several weeks ago with mixed results, but he was also standing on 13 v. T and not doubling 11 v 9 during positive counts. Must have been side counting....

Yes, I have -- several times in fact. I've even doubled a hard 15 before. Miraculously I've always ended up with 20 and 21 in these situations.

Only, and I mean only in tournament play. I see ridiculous plays like this all the time and the ploppies always seem to win, especially with large bets.

No, it was a VBulletin tech support guy testing a Chrome problem.

This play looks stupid to a counter or basic strategist. It doesn't have to be. You just need more information.
"Wait a minute. How do you beat someone to death with their own skull? That doesn't seem physically possible." "That's what Jimmy kept screaming: 'This doesn't seem physically possible!'"

If you dont have next card information or hold card information, you're better off taking your money and tossing it in the ocean, same effect, less stress

I've seen people double for less on a hard 12 vs a dealer 2 or 3 on numerous occasions. I asked them why and their theory generally was "No matter what I get I'm not going to hit again and only 4 out of 13 cards bust me." I usually counter that a 2 or 3 isn't exactly a bust card and they're still risking busting about 1 out of 3 times, but this falls on deaf ears. Sometimes I'll throw out a $5 chip myself with a pit boss watching and add a little speech about it to look like a gambler/moron.
