    Basic Strategy BJ illustration Card

    As I have explained I am still pretty new to Black Jack. I have been reading a lot from this form and started skimming through Norms book. Thank you Norm for the free book!

    I am going to Mohegan Sun this Sunday. I have a free $200 bet, free room and some comped meals. I want to refer to the card and more difficult hands as I am still learning. I am starting to realize how much beginners luck I had my first few times I was playing. I notice a lot of these cards differ.

    Can anyone recommend one that is the most accurate?

    • bjinfo.com -- on the left side there is a strategy generator button. Scroll down a bit to the left, you'll see different BJ rules, such as: 1D, 2D, 6D, 8D...H17, S17....LS, ES,.....etc. Select the ones you want and click the generate button, and voila! That's what I always use whenever I find a game with different rules that I haven't played before. I've never heard of anyone saying anything bad about it or claiming it's inaccurate. I would go with that one.
    • Plus, it's very easy to visualize. Some charts are awfully hard to memorize...bjinfo's is nice and easy though!

    Are you referring to Mohegan Sun in Connecticut?

    Yes, was the info incorrect? I am almost positive I doubled down after splitting last time I was there

    Double after split except a/a split since you're only allowed one card.

    Yes it was. There are no 8 deck games. The 6 deck rules are S17, unlimited re splitting except aces, no splitting 10s, double after split, double any 2 cards and late surrender. The house edge is just over 0.35%. What could go wrong there? In a word penetration. It is terrible and I mean less than 70% terrible. A very few will give decent pen but they will be very difficult to find and they don't deal blackjack exclusively. Do some scouting.

    There is a pit of $5 H17 tables but don't bother. I'm rather surprised that the info given you was so far off.

    • Did you call the right casino? I've actually made that mistake a time or two myself....or maybe the guy was an idiot? Or they changed since PMP played?
    • What's wrong with the H17 6D? Or is it also sh*t pen?

    Yes I spoke to a table manager on the 8 decks

    I also read this on the internet.

    Mohegan Sun
    Blackjack games at the Mohegan Sun have gone from bad to worse. In fact, the Mohegan Sun is a wasteland for counters. They used to deal a six-deck game at all tables with two decks cut off giving you only around 66% penetration. Now, however, continuous shufflers have replaced many of their six-deck games and the rest have been switched over to eight-deck games. The rules at the Mohegan Sun are the same as Foxwoods, however, at the Mohegan Sun you are not allowed to split tens if you so desire.
    The Mohegan Sun is actually two casinos: The original Earth Casino and the newer Sky Casino. One thing the Mohegan Sun casino lacks is consistency in the number of decks and their mid shoe entry rule.
    You can still find a few six-deck games in the "Spring" section of the Earth Casino and in the high roller pit near the Fall section. In the Earth casino they do allow mid shoe entry on their six-deck games. However, over in the Sky casino you will find six-deck games in the high roller pit and in the adjacent pit # 22. The six-deck games in the Sky casino have No Mid Shoe Entry even though the penetration is terrible.

    H17 = "Hit soft 17" while S17 = "Stay soft 17"...so yes.
