I agree with KJ, you've got to consider the opportunity cost. At an extreme, if he can make $200 an hour counting cards, is it worth a 60 min round trip for a $5 matchplay?

There are many other factors to consider and it's about finding the right balance but assuming a blanket approach of 'it would be a waste if he didn't utilise them all' is going to be counterproductive.
Whether you believe you can or not, you're probably right.

I agree with the above statement as it gives the similar strategy as Team Play in that by considering the "guaranteed" very-low risk (if any) BR boost, you are in effect playing to a higher bankroll, similar to what players on Joint Bankrolls do. Therefore playing slightly higher stakes or the like may not be totally out of the question.

Obviously not every coupon in existance is worth chasing down but are you really going to turn your back on $25,000 plus a year because its sooo difficult to organize your time? You have the discipline needed to count cards but not the ability to organize profitable coupon runs? Somethings not right.
First of all, "$25,000 plus a year" is a stretch, Mr Shad. I wish it was that. My 2 grand bonus EV this month is an abnormality. This is the first month my bonus EV has even been 4 figures and a good portion of that is abusing one particular MP opportunity. BUT, in answer to your question, if that were the case that I could make 25 grand chasing bonuses, BUT it occupied all of my time, which I could otherwise use to make 3 times that, then yes I would turn my back on that opportunity. Lets see $25 grand vs $75 grand.

If KJ has always done this I am not surprised he survived in the rise from a small bankroll player.
I wish I had always done this Tthree. Chasing bonuses is relatively new to me, and a bit exaggerated at the moment (see above), although I do seem to be stumbling upon new opportunities fairly frequently right now.

Now you are just copping out. No one here , other than yourself, has suggested you spend all your time doing it.
No one, other than you, has suggested you waste your time trying to get a $5 MP from Casino Royale. Nor has anyone but you talked about being rangled into playing inferior games because of chasing a MP.
You are starting to sound like someone who would fake his own death again.

Why are you wasting time cashing out?

You should have an inventory for these garbage places, and only cash every now and then.

Poker in the evenings, blackjack overnights, sleep in the mornings, sell water on overpasses in the afternoons. That's how I'd maximize my EV.

You could pay someone you trust $300 a month to cash in your free play (and their own free play too).

I also always get a $5 match play every time I walk by Casino Royale. Unfortunately, it's even money only, so I can't bet the single number on roulette.

a guy a few months back, suggested i go on a coupon run with him, i didnt think it would be worth the time, since i assumed many of the offers were only for new signups, he was using the new 2012 yearly coupon book this one company puts out. many of them were only for like $5 and $10. he thought i could get like $80-100 and i thought it would be nowhere near that.

of course with such a small roll, my time here in jean isnt worth over $2 an hour either longterm, but having a free room everyday for the last 2 months is worth a lot to me simply because the roll is so small. even the people who play big money tell me this machine is only worth about $60 an hour with a $50,000 roll. and im just happy my $1100 is now back to over $1800 with almost no risk at all, along with a place to live rent free

    What goes around comes around

KJ, you had a similar post months ago and I mentioned opportunity costs and travel expenses. It seemed few understood then, but perhaps now .

The value of the plays depends on your regular playing level. If a $20 matchplay takes 1 hr to play the value is about $10 - travel expense an hour. Now the question is how much is that hour worth doing something else. One needs to make roughly over twice the matchplay value at bj due to variance. In this example over $20 approx.

One can add additional value if they consider coupon hustling heat free EV or if they like walking around Vegas or riding a bus

KJ seems to have drawn a conclusion to focus on the more valuable situations.

does this same equation relate to scouting. I was recently on a trip where i spent about 10-15 hours scouting that i could of easily been playing bj. All i found where games that were a 2-3x the EV of BJ so basically it was a wash. if one has a limited time to scout, play , and work fulltime what is one to do in search of a higher edge?

If the EV was a wash
    What was the variance difference?
The expense of the travel differences?

Is there a longevity benefit you can apply to either game? :devilish

Does your scouting efforts become more efficient with time? I.e. you can eliminate certain casinos

Some of us would simply like to squeeze out a meager subsistance doing something we love(AP), much less have ADDED VALUE on top of an income. If I could milk out 15k a year I would be on cloud nine....food for thought, my entire income last year was under 10k
