    Question New deck at cut

I'm playing 8 deck with 50% penetration, when they reach the cut they don't just reshuffle that deck they have one pre-shuffled, at that point I reset my count because it is a new set of decks. I'm wondering whether I should be thinking of it as 8 deck or 4 deck seeing as all 8 are never used.

Just a beginner learning the basics. Working with the hi/low strategy at the moment.

It’s an 8 deck shoe with a lousy 50% pen that, regardless of rules, will take your money.

The only place I know where I see an 8-deck shoe cut at 50% is on-line gambling sites/Black Jack tables.. Run away... Don't play it

Agree. it's pointless to play that lousy game.

It is an online game, but a live casino one, should I be looking for a higher cut?

No, you should be looking for a real casino. You know, those places you can actually walk in....

Yeah man easier said than done. Whats the reason for that if the online game is live and has the same rule set?

Unfortunately, the online games do not offer the same conditions. Look at your situation, you are stuck with an 8 deck shoe cut in half.... To 99% of the players here, this is unplayable for any kind of profit.
Are you serious about this game or just trying to kill time ?

At this point I am just feeling the water. I live in a small town so I would have to travel for proper casinos. If I could find one with the same rules as a real casino would it effect the odds?

The odds are not affected, the lousy penetration is affecting the opportunities to gain an advantage if you're counting cards. If you're a counter or would like to develop the ability to be one, you have no need to practice on live games. The training should be done on your kitchen table where it's free !

Haha I would need a decent dealer for that. I have got Casino Verite BlackJack software though

This isn't the place to discuss such things. This is a forum for bricks and mortar players and they don't really understand how online advantage play works.

In order to beat games like this you need to be multi-tabling at least 4 at a time and closing any window if the count does not immediately go positive. Sit out any negative count. Playing one table at a time is a waste of energy.

You won't get much better than 50% anywhere online normally.

Can a game with 50% pen really be beaten though? Even if you get early high counts on a good percentage of the shoes? Let's say in the first 2 decks the count rises to +6 and you throw your max out there. Only in this hypothetical scenario most of those high cards are buried behind the cut card in the four decks you wont be playing. If this happens with enough frequency you get slaughtered because even though the count says you have the advantage, you really don't, as it is a false signal because of all the many cards cut off. Can you really survive this in the long run is the question or would this obliterate your Bankroll in no time. What is the RoR for such a game? I guess in a perfect world where you got greater than 50% shoes with high plus counts early it could average out to a small hourly win but my guess is the variance would be a killer also.
