    Voodoo thinking or variance

More of a rant as I don't have anyone to share my emotions with as card counting is a lonely sport.

Since I was thrown out of my close to home casino, I found another about 25 minutes away. It's actually the same ownership, but I wanted to see if I would be recognized. I figured if they pull something I would have just said "Oh well I thought that was for the other property not here".

I was surprised as the game was better, 8 decks, split, double any 2 cards, surrender, BJ pays 3:2 (don't know all the acronyms) only issue was Hit soft 17. What made up for the Hit soft 17 was that penetration was phenomenal! I'm talking about a deck and even less was where they placed the cut card as opposed to 1.5 -2.5 at the other spot. I thought the reason I was kicked out was that the Universe was telling me to find this place!

As I begin playing with Dollar signs in my eyes, I lost without exaggeration 12 hands in a row and not even 2 decks were played before I had to dig into reserves. I thought I would just have to hang tight since penetration was so good and utilize the bet spread when my count called for max bet. Well the count never materialized and the first shoe ended.

The second shoe and so on were more of the same, and when the count finally indicated it was time to make some money, the dealer got all the 10s and the sloppy ploppy next to me got the blackjacks.

Dear Lord, did I do something wrong, did I mistreat someone today, I'm sorry if I did. No way, this casino must be cheating , how do I know the cards they are using are on the up and up, why me and more voodoo talk.

When it was time to leave I just couldn't book the loss and decided to stay and keep counting. Was dead tired, had to be at work early in the morning and was mad I had lost so much money on what I thought was a fantastic opportunity.

In closing, I found a monster of a shoe and was able to dig myself out of the hole. I got so excited on a particular hand that I won and I forgot the count (dangerous). I decided to just flat bet the remainder of the shoe and then proceeded to win the next 8 hands. I realize that this was my lost opportunity ( I think it's called EV), and now I'm headed back down there to try it all over again.

Moral of the story.....well don't really know, but from paying attention to this site, I think in the long run, I will win those hands, and most likely just ran into some variance.

    Sincerely

Don't make the same mistake you made at the other place and overplay and get kicked out in short order.

You were all bummed when there was another casino that close?! What you should do is see if there are any other casinos within an hour or so and start a rotation and not play the same place/same shift too frequently.

At the time of my post I didn't know they had a sister sight, and when I found out I wasn't sure if it would be safe to go. Yes sir, I have a few and rotation is in the works. Also, not wongging in and standing behind tables should help. I mean it took them 3 months to detect me.

If you forgot the count, then the painful truth is that you are not ready yet. You should practice heavily before going back.
If you really found a place with penetration that good, then you must do everything in your power to create a situation where you can play there as long as possible. That penetration will likely be the crown jewel of your area.
I had a casino once that had early surrender (not late surrender, EARLY Surrender)! They also cut only 1/2 deck from their 6-deck shoe. Was H17, DAS, DOA. If I want it, I still have that casino in my rotation and it has been a decade (though sadly, the Early Surrender is no longer).
Treat that casino with the upmost respect. You will kick yourself if you get booted from there any sooner than necessary. Sheer em, don't skin em.

It sounds like you've had quite the rollercoaster experience! Variance plays a significant role in card counting, and sometimes it can feel like the universe is against you. However, with the right strategy, patience, and bankroll management, the odds can tilt in your favor over the long run. Keep learning from each session, stay disciplined with your count and betting strategy, and remember to take care of yourself - being well-rested and alert is crucial in this game. On a related note, I'm currently still in the training phase, but I play online because I still have some reservations about playing in a physical venue.

Thanks but I don't trust online. Something about computers and a rigged system.

You really need to learn to google things. Then when you have a thought you can see whether that thought has any truth to it.

Online casinos generally speaking do not rig their games. They are already rigged in the form of the house edge.

Players share information all the time on online casinos. Any systemic cheating is generally exposed fairly quickly.

Thanks, but rather not take that chance. But hey if online works for you then great, it's just that for me, I need that human interaction.

I'd look for human interaction in places other than a casino.

Can you see where they placed the cut card online? Do they show you the burn card?
