I started playing blackjack last year and it was pretty brutal. Lots of small wins swallowed by big loses. I grew suspicious it was simply error in my own skills.

Then you know nothing John Snow.... There are tons of advice/guidance on this forum. How many books have you read on Black Jack that basically tell the same story you have experienced. How do you know it's NOT you?? Do you have software to do a test out? Have you worked with an established BJ AP and did a test out IRL. Ever heard of variance??

It sounds like you've had a rough start with blackjack. It's smart to think it might be your strategy needing a tune-up. Here's a quick tip: really get to know the basic rules of blackjack. Managing how much you bet can also help you not lose money too fast. Maybe practice with some free online blackjack games to get better without risking your cash. Everyone struggles at first, but with a bit of practice and learning, you can start to see some improvement.

If you are unsure about your edge, definitely play with free software to get a representation of your ev and variance and to finetune your tactics. I developed a free site for that purpose ( https://theblackjackgame.com ) there is no download no signup no ads completely free.

    Oh man, this is embarrassing.

I’m a new member here and still getting use to how to post things. I started typing this up but thought I had deleted it. I guess I must’ve accidentally posted it instead lol.

Please do ignore this. I just recently got into the black after spending the last year getting crushed. I took a couple months off to reevaluated my skills and managed to win back everything I lost, plus more. Yes, definitely could’ve just been variance, but I feel a lot more confident in my play now. Still more room to improve but it’s going well.
