    Hit until 18

    Hi everyone,
Im new to card counting, so please bear with me!
I was wondering why do we stop hitting at 17 if we ASSUMED that the dealer have 18,19,20 ?
We don’t win with 17 unless the dealer bust anyway
We know the dealer will stand at hard 17 so why don’t we hit until we get to 18?
I know I would bust out a lot more.
However Would someone with math knowledge please run sims to see how much disadvantage or advantages to keep hitting until the player get to 18 ?
6 decks, 75% pen, H17, DAS, No RSA, No Surrender
    10000 hours of playing
Please and THANK YOU in advance!!!

You cannot really explain why optimum playing decisions are so in blackjack. But in a nutshell, all possible outcomes(there are a lot of them !)are generated along with their respective probabilities after which they are weighted accordingly and the best playing decision that maximizes your expectation value given your cards and the dealer upcard is determined
    Chance favors the prepared mind

You don't ever "assumed" anything in this game.

The only way you know the dealer's hole card is if you see it. As already stated, never assume anything. The math is the math. it's all been worked out. you're not going to "discover" a mistake in published BS or indices (in a reputable book).

Gave some dismissive thought on hitting hard 17. Would require ridiculously bad QTC with a large 234 surplus. Additional dismissive thought was doubling hard 17 on said circumstance.

Might be fun for shits and giggles doubling said 17 on minimum bet
