Session lengths and when to leave
One of the most important things I have learned is to be disciplned in my session lengths and setting both a time limit and a trip bank roll loss limit. I believe I have come to see how wise it is to set session limits and not let my emotions get the best of me. Since the start of the month I have had the ability to really get some serious time in at my local tribal casino, over 65 hours of play broken down to 2 to 3 hour sessions depending upon the day the time I had available to play. If I got tired or was super hungry, I would end the session sooner. Sometimes I would play in the morning and then break and then come back in the afternoon before the drunks arrive to throw away their money at night. I started at $10k as my trip bankroll and I had a back up of $18k. Right from the start variance hit me hard and I dropped over $5k over a series of days. Then over the next week I clawed $3k back and then another $1k after having some up and down sessions. I just finished a 2 hour session where I was up at one point nearly back to even at $10k then I dropped $2.5k and then clawed back just over $1.5k back. I was really on a roll near the end of my session and just hitting everything but my apple watch went off, so I finished the shoe and colored up. Two other players at the table couldn't believe I was leaving when I was on such streak at the table but I said I needed to go and one of them commented "What an idiot, you always stay with the streak" It didn't bother me in the least. I just went to the cashier and walked out with my winnings. It's just all one long session to me now. But during that whole time today, I must have played with at least 9 other people over that 2-1/2 hour session and all of them walked away with nothing.
