Well, you could be right... But why would some of the most respected black jack players like Ian Anderson, Snyder and others would make it up. Some of them have provided some indepth math exploring how some of those games give the house a greater edge than standard black jack. I am sure spanish 21/pontoon can be played and with some training you could beat the game but other variants all seem to have much higher house edges. As I mentioned the free bet black jack at the casino I play at always seems to be full of players which is one of the reasons I don't play it.. Maybe it's good or not, but I don't like playing at full tables. The baccarat table is right next to it and frankly playing baccart with a bunch of older crazy asian ladies is always fun for me. Screaming "monkey" while the dealer drops a ten on banker and we are all playing player is a blast.

A lot of them do have a higher house advantage. So, all other things equal, it may be a worse game. But frequently all other things are not equal.

The most common is they just don't watch the game. I've had a floor start hawking my game because I was spreading a lot, and then notice that it wasn't regular blackjack, and say "oh, it's just (variant game)" and walk away. Many of these games are marketed as being invulnerable to counting.

Maybe they deal it single or double deck, which means its easier to beat than a shoe, as long as you're willing to push big bets out when needed. A lot of these guys miss this point because they don't like to play with an appropriate spread to get a worthwhile advantage. They're afraid that big spreads are an automatic backoff, which is not true.
    The Cash Cow.
