Avoiding places with reputation or Indian shops

Been planning a trip to the California area. I'm used to Indian casinos in Washington, but I think steven bridges scared them straight. In Washington it's rare to get into a big ID fight. Although lately a few places have begun demanding again. I've heard and red bad things about Indian casinos and cashing out, would my experience at an Indian shop be worse in Cali?
It seems a lot of places on CBJN in California have little notes on them, shit like "Requires ID or player's card to cash purple chips and above.", "ID or player's card demanded to cash out all but trivial amount". Is it worth going to these places? As a young guy am I just asking to get my money stolen from me by going in there?
I understand that they may be legally required to cash me out, but many places simply break the law. They know they can get away with it.

If they require ID for purple, don't get purple chips. Don't color up to purples. If you need to bet larger, just do it with black chips. These are smallish Indian casinos, so I'm assuming you're not putting up $2000 bets where betting black is impractical.

If you are betting well into purple territory, then your only option is to try to color down the purples. Maybe they have a high stakes poker game you can jump in for one or two orbits and turn some purples into a rack of greens. Or you can do it on table games, check change a couple purples, play a few rounds at $25, and then leave. There's a slight risk that may get you heated up on suspicion of counterfeiting.

If they require ID for cashouts above X, cashout less than that.

I took a look at the latest CBJN, to see which places had the comments. I haven't been to the casinos with the comments since 2021 so no current info. The reports for casinos I have been to, are not accurate even though the dates have Feb 2024 dates.

I had a recent demand to see an ID with a $1200 cash out at a small tribal joint. I refused and got my money, but it took 20 minutes. Going back 5 years, I had a similar incident at a larger tribal casino with around $3,500. Since then I keep cash outs under 1800 and keep chips for future play. Sometimes I have a meal or a drink and cash out more chips with a second trip to the cage. I look old enough that age is not an issue.

"I forgot my ID" is less hostile then "I will not give you my ID"

Please be so kind as to email me with specifics of any inaccurate reports. It would be much appreciated.
