How do you adjust SCORE to account for changing ROR to something other than 13.5%?

I just finished BJA3, and learned for the first time about SCORE, which is a wonderful way to account for both risk and reward in a standardized way. Now it does say in the book that by using CV software I can easily adjust the ROR from 13.5% to anything I want, but for now I was just wondering if there is an easy mathematical fix I can do by hand, since I don't have the software yet.

(The reason I don't have it yet is because I have a Mac, and as far as I know the Casino Veritas software is NOT Mac compatible, right? Does anyone know if there are any plans to make it compatible? I saw another thread from 4 years ago that suggested both buying a separate PC or buying something called Parallels for Mac. Are these still my only options?).

    So here is my question:

Is there a simple relationship between bankroll and ROR that I can use to manually calculate the bankroll required to lower 13.5% ROR down to 5% or 2% or 1% or whatever I want? For example what does doubling the bankroll from $10,000 to $20,000 do to the ROR? Thanks.

If you run a sim and do the "Call CVCX" button, you can manually adjust the risk of ruin based on either % ROR or whatever fraction of Kelly you want to play.

Read the chapter carefully, especially pages 114-121. All the answers are there. Basically, according to the formula, if you double your bankroll from what was an original ROR of 0.135, your new risk of ruin is (0.135)^2, or 0.018, which you can see from the charts by picking representative banks, such as 300 and 600 units and looking at, say, EV per hand of 0.03 and s.d. per hand of 3.00. Note how the 0.135 for 300 units becomes 0.018 for 600 units.

You should get yourself Virtualbox {free} and install windows on it. I have it running on a 6 YO iMac without issues (Win 10). If you have an Apple Silicone machine, get UTM and emuate windows. It will be slower but usable for most of your sims.

With respect to getting Norm's software working on Mac (or Linux), I have had success with Wine. Personally, I use the CrossOver Wine software because it's easier to work with, but standard Wine would probably work with some extra effort.

I use a Windows 7 bottle in CrossOver. Because of the Clippy-like animations the software uses, you first need to install Microsoft Agent hotfix. You can Google to find the current link from Microsoft. However, I couldn't get this working directly. I had to install Bonzi Buddy (yes, that annoying gorilla) in order to get it installed in Wine properly. I know Bonzi Buddy used to be malware, but it's harmless now. You don't even have to open it after installing, you just need the MS Agent it installs. You can search online for a current place to download it. Please let me know if anyone has figured out how to install the MS Agent hotfix more directly in Wine.

After you have MS Agent (Bonzi Buddy) installed, you can then install Norm's software in the same bottle. It should work just as well as on Windows with all features working.
