    Youtube Black Jack Players

I have watched several Youtube channels of people who play blackjack and record their sessions. Does anyone know or have insight as to how they work that out with Casinos to allow it? I have asked several times the Youtubers but no response. They don't seem to count cards and some of them don't even follow basic strategy that I can make out. There is one channel "mr handpay" and he plays in several casinos in the mid-west that I play at. Just looking for any insight on the topic.

Last I heard, having a hidden camera at a blackjack table was a felony in Nevada. You can look up the Keith Taft case.

These guys are either playing in a state that doesn't have a device law (unlikely), they're getting permission to film, or they're filming illegally.

Well there are a few of those guys that put out videos like that. One of them is a guy called Steven Bridges who plugs Black Jack Apprenticeship a lot and he does the undercover videos as well. What I am talking about are players clearly operating, with permission to film their black jack sessions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0qbZj4mMDQ&t=751s if you plug in this link it will take you to youtube channel where the guy is playing at Rivers Casino Des Plaines and is buying in for $20k or more. Clearly from watching the video he has the permission of the casino since he has a camera recording the session and sometimes his cell phone to record some of the biger bet situations. I like to watch the videos to practice counting and catch betting/play errors since it's at normal dealer speed. He mostly plays head to head and occasionally has other people play as well.. but never more than 3. I guess my ask is this a common thing to do now or is it good cover play?? I am still trying to figure out if he really is counting or not. He never takes insurance and he plays side bets on every hand. Just asking...

Why wouldn't they allow it? These are dumbass compulsive gamblers watched by other dumbass compulsive gamblers. It is very good business for the casinos. There is probably direct sponsorship going on.

Because a camera at the right angle can be used to see hole cards. Keith Taft got sent to prison for doing this.

We were not talking about advantage players. We are talking about hardcore degenerate gamblers on youtube.

Off-topic but I never understood why any one would use a device to see hole-cards. Just hire a midget from a theatrical agency of something.

Dates back to the olden days. Laying a shiny lighter or cigarette holder on a Poker table to see the cards as dealt.

Keith Taft did not go to prison. IIRC, his brother and brother-in-law were jailed a couple of months.

"Midget" is considered an offensive term nowadays.

Ages ago, Uston's publisher told me he could get permission for me to record at Stupak's casino.

Worth mentioning glims can occur naturally in casinos under certain conditions. If the reflection is caused by something the casino owns such as fixtures or gaming equipment it is quite legal to use it for your advantage.

Mr. Handpay seems like he works with the casinos he plays at because he's always talking about how great the place is.

He's definitely not card counting in the videos, but I wouldn't be surprised if he could count outside of that.

Ultimately, his main goal is to monetize the videos so big wins and losses are needed to keep the entertainment factor going.

Purely theoretical point but working on the assumption that wild swings are the norm card counting wouldn't even be optimal, you'd be maximizing the probability of an extreme session swing.
You'd double/split anything marginal, even plays with a mildly negative expectation.
