    What's your best break the ice line to a dealer?

    So you walk up to an empty table with the dealer just standing there, What do you say to get things rolling, hopefully in your favor?

    What I mean by "in your favor", is to have deep deck penetration, not batting an eye if you spread 1-10x, shuffling quickly, dealing as fast (or slow) as you would like, etc.

    I’m older so something like you might need to bare with me sometimes as my mind slows down often and more importantly I jest with them that my prostate dictates when and how often I need to leave the table.

    That's a good one! You could use the prostate argument to determine when to wong-in and when to wong-out :-)

    Sincerely,

    As I approach the table, I express, I'm looking for a minimum 90% deck penetration and your ability to handle a 1-1000 spread. If you're on board with that, I might be inclined to leave a tip;
    otherwise, I'll switch to counting cards at a different table. I believe that should persuade them. ;-) ;-)

    Sincerely,

    Fortunately, when playing machines, no need to break the ice. :-D

    Tell a joke. Pick the appropriate joke for the dealer. Say things like:

    "My wife just lost $500 on slots. I told her she needs to embrace her mistakes. So she gave me a hug."

    "You know, my penis was in the Guinness Book of World Records, but the librarian asked me to take it out."

    "You know, you really gotta hand it to blind prostitutes."

    After playing with dozens of different APs at the table, I feel confident saying that most people should simply stop trying to "put on an act." I think Ken Uston's advice was just wrong. Not for Ken Uston, mind you. It worked for Ken Uston. But it doesn't work for most people. Most people aren't Ken Uston. Most people who try to put on an act just end up coming across as cheesy. Others end up drawing suspicion to themselves that never would have come if they just stayed quiet.

    I've seen people running the "act" that they were a statistician. Because it explained why they had money, and it was something they knew enough to talk about if challenged. Does this sound like a good idea?

    Others try to put on a drug dealer "act". May make the casino think you're stupid and stop them from running skills checks. But it can also cause them to report you to the IRS, or local law enforcement for suspected narcotics trafficking. Lawyers and accountants are expensive.

    Now, I'm not saying everyone should just not talk, although some would definitely benefit from this. Rather, you should just try to act natural. Try to get along with everyone, and have fun. Talk about movies, popular TV shows, or the local sports team. Root for people to win. It's incredible how much less likely casino employees are to suspect you of being an AP if they just like you.
