Using no cover at all in the casino.

This year I’ve noticed a trend. I’ve seen it over and over again so I thought I would mention it. It’s always a guy in his 20s who comes to the table and buys in for like $500 and then proceeds to sit and closely watch the cards like a hawk as soon as they come out. He obviously glances at the discard tray over and over again, and only jumps in with a bet when the shoe goes positive. Sometimes it will be a couple of shoes before it goes positive and he just sits there staring in silence, making no bets whatsoever. Absolute everybody with a clue knows what he’s doing. I find it super annoying that they don’t at least watch for a minute and see if somebody else is actually counting. Serious question here-Is this something they are teaching somewhere? Do any of you use this approach? I just don’t understand why you wouldn’t at least hold a conversation with the table and at least attempt to act like a regular superstitious gambler OK, sorry this was kind of a rant, but I really am seeing this on a regular basis. I wonder if these people are convinced the casino already knows what they’re doing so they don’t think there’s a point in hiding it? Question/rant over. Have a good Tuesday everybody.

I have encountered many such counters who Wong in when TC turned positive. Some even sit there and skip all negative count rounds. Most of them did not last for 3 days. One week at most. It is the worst type of AP. Casinos can be 100% sure they are counters and put their pictures in the database. They will have difficulty to count at most casinos.

Try this in a very easy to hear voice
Gee, they kicked out some guy last week for doing exactly what you’re doing. It was explained to me that the guy was waiting for an advantage - does that mean you’re stealing the good cards.

Call the pit boss over and say - this guy is spoiling the flow of the cards. Could you tell him not to jump in and out- it’s really maddening.

The pit prefers a happy table - they should take action. Frankly - low to no class - learn to beat the house in a play all system.

I’ve said to these guys, again in a very clear voice - either play or don’t play - none of this in out bullshit.

In fact - true story from about 6-7 years ago.
Guy comes in, puts 2 lammers down, goes to Baccarat table across the pit - he’s eyeing my table. Saunters over at a high count and puts down 2x600. I whisper over - don’t back count my table - he then asks, no kidding - are you Freightman.

we had had prior email communication. We met for coffee later. Ran a team for awhile - haven’t heard from him in several years - don’t know what happened to him

yeah, good advice Freightman. I’m not a very confrontational person, but this is a case where I think your advice is warranted. Funny story about being spotted.

Come to think of it, I have yet to see one of these individuals more than once.

I once had that happen, too. When I made a comment to a guy who wonged into my table, he asked, "are you Freightman?" Sericously!

I would imagine that these half-educated twice-overconfident very-obviously-counting autists are good for the savvy APs who bother to try to blend in. Makes it easier to employ gray-man tactics and look like just another gambler to the pit. It's like they say in poker about fish: "Don't tap the glass." If ploppies want to get themselves backed off inside a day, why not let them believe they're doing the right thing if their false perception is beneficial to your bottom line?

Thats pretty funny. Any conversation with the guy? Recall once - house knew I was counting, soooooo, I promised (fooling around) cut would exceed the width of my schvantz. I cut for 5.5/6. Got a look from the critter and responded - they don’t call me pencil dick for nothing - though I have seriously said after a 3.5/6 dealer cut - gee that cut is wider than my schvantz. All purpose word.

It was probably 5 years ago, so I don't recall any more details.
