Poll: How Many Different States Have You Been In

Most blackjack players travel around quite a bit. So how many different states have you been in?

Yep, my best count is 17 states and one foreign country. And just in case 21forme is wondering, I haven't been out of the U.P. since 2019. In fact, I believe since around Nov 1st 2022 to around April 15, 2023 I have only been out of my yard twice. Once to pay my taxes, and once to go about 40 yards down the road to see what was laying in the snowbank. I thought it might be a person.

Looks like 29 states as far as I can tell, including ones I drove through on the way to somewhere else.

Nine foreign countries if I include Austria, which, according to the map, I must have passed through. I don’t remember it, but I was probably on a train in the middle of the night.

I'm not surprised. Is Canada your foreign country?

46 states and 69 countries for me (2 more countries to add next month, then 3 more towards the end of the year). Just one planet though, so Norm has me beat on that one.

Yep, been there several times. My sister use to live in Thunder Bay and we visited them with my parents about 50 years ago a couple times. I do remember a nice waterfalls we went to see. I also think you could see the sleeping giant from there.

More recently my son had a cross country and track scholarship to run for Lake Superior State University. They would hold their cross country meets in Canada so we went up to Canada a couple more times to see them. This was all before 9-11 so it was easy to get into Canada then. I haven't been back to Canada after 9-11, but I do have an enhanced drivers license.

All 50. Vermont was the final one, visited in 2010:

Vermont was my fiftieth state; a totally forgettable place. I think it last welcomed a tourist in about 1900. We went up I-91 towards Canada, stopping in a dumpy little village for deli sandwiches. When I tipped the woman who made our sandwiches, instead of “Thank you,” she muttered, “Ummm hmmm.” Welcome to Vermont!

In terms of just US states, I've driven my car in 49, and my father has driven in all 50.

But I think it's more interesting for this forum to see in how many states in which one has actually played Blackjack.
I've got about 300 different $1 chips from unique casinos that I've played in throughout the world. No duplicates, except perhaps a half dozen where the casino changed its name or ownership between my different visits. And there's a few cool places that allow one to buy-in and play with your choice of currencies; so I've gotten a chip for each one. (Cheaper than buying a T-shirt as a souvenir.)

They represent around 24 different US states and at least 7 different countries.
I hope to get to the rest someday.

    Cheers,
    Ole
