Raise spots in the middle of a session...

Coming with a new amateur question:

Does it make any sense to change bet spread or amount of spots in the middle of a session? For example:
I Play a 1-12 bet spread, 1 spot with other players at the table and I bring at least 10 max bets as my bankroll for a 4 hour session (almost zero heat, but I don't behave cynical). If, by having good variance, I get to be ahead by 100 units approx, and I get to play alone or with little company after an hour or two since I started, does it make sense to take the same spread but for 2 spots? Or should I just keep it disciplined and play the same amount for the full session and resize later? What do you all do in this case?

    Thanks in advance.

Although not all that common, mathematically, you can certainly resize on the fly, mid-session. On the other hand, despite your mentioning no heat, don't you think winning 100 units during one session is enough to stop and reconsider if you really want to keep playing?

Finally, no, you wouldn't be using the same spread for two spots were you to double your bank. Rather, you'd be using 2 x 150% of the one-hand original bets for the new betting scheme.

Winning 100 units is begging to be banned. Even non-counters can get banned for that.

100 units probably means Time to Go.

But there are other ways to take it up to 2 spots. I played with a superstitious guy who was a non-counter. He believed in 2 or 4 spots at the table for the flow of the cards. Never 3 spots. So if we got to 3 he would spread to 2 hands to make it 4. He was betting 100-1500 or so depending on how he was feeling it but definitely wasn't keeping count. Good ploppy superstition that could have application's for an AP in the right situation.

Try it more like that perhaps. But don't use a huge win as your trigger point to do that because when you are racking up the big wins that's when they could be starting to get concerned about you in the first place.

That's just not true. Not even a valuable generalization. Most casinos would accept a 100 unit winner without even running tape on your play if the unit was $5. Even at $25 unit ($2500 win) it's probably not getting reviewed on a Friday night at most places.

People read this stuff, and they accept it, and then start arbitrarily cutting their sessions off early. Remember, most people reading these boards are red chippers.

You need to get more specific information than this. Is there a bet size that will cause the casino to start watching you? Is there a chip size? (black action) Is there a win size that triggers tape review? and can you get around this by ratholing?

Totally agree. I frequently have 80-100 unit wins. I frequently ignore optimal ramps.
