Treatment of multiple cards made up of hard 15, 16 vs 7,8,9

    Hi,

Firstly, I am not card counter (mostly because my casino only offer CSM BJ), so i tried to play perfect BS whenever possible.

So for hard 15,16 vs 10, my take is to early surrender for 2 cards hard 15 or 16 vs 10 (or 9) , and almost always stand when multiple cards made up of hard 16 (based on Composition dependent BS)

But I was wondering if I can employ the same treatment for multiple cards made up of hard 15, 16 vs 7,8,9, i.e. stand instead of hitting ?

I understand that 15,16 are very unfavourable against 10, but they are also unfavourable vs 9,8,7 , so shouldn't we treat the 2 cases the same?

    No.
As you move downwards from the dealer upcard of Ten towards the upcards of 9, 8, and then 7, the math tells us it is less valuable to surrender and much more important to hit than to stand on hands of 16 or less.
Multicard compositions do have some impact, especially in pitch games, and the S17/H17 table conditions and shoe size also have an effect. There's a myriad of complex recommendations, but I stick to these few:

For 15vT, if there's a Ten or a 6 in your hand then surrender. If you've got a (8,7)vT hand, surrender only if playing a 8D shoe.

Surrender or stand on a pair of 7s vs. Ten in single-deck games.

The surrenders i mention above are for LS. If you are in an ES game there may be more interest to surrender the initial two cards to a Ten.

    For 15vT, 16vT, 16v9: Hit if holding a 6, a pair of 6s, or pairs of 2s or Aces.
Stand if holding any 5, or a 4 combined with an Ace or 8.

Otherwise, Stand on 16vT if 3 or more cards.

For a six card 16vT and 16v9, Stand if already holding a Ten, 9, or 8, but Hit a 16v9 if you hold any 7.

These include selected rules from Peter Griffin's books.

For color Basic Strategy cards, Don Schlesinger has created "Ultimate Basic Strategy Cards" that include other compositional plays, for sale at LVA and Amazon.

Hope this helps on your CSM. (BUT BOYCOTT CSMs whenever you can.)

    Cheers,
    Ole

Which rules from Peter Griffin's books were you talking about? on which page of the book?

Unfortunately, my local casinos and all casino in nearby city only offer CSM...

I know im playing a losing game, but I love playing BJ (not just the money but the fun as well), so I just bite the bullet and play the best basic strategy I could

These are my own notes collected from many sources including Griffin, Thorp, Shackleford, Schlesinger, Smith, Wattenberger, Grosjean, and others who have commented on compositional plays. There are other hands beyond the few of which you asked.

    I understand,
but if you love the game, you got to fight for it.
Get your friends and peers to grasp how they are being CHEATED from how the game is meant to be played. Tactfully insult them at the tables for being taken by the casino.

    "Who cut the deck? "

Did anybody watch the dealer shuffle?

That spinning wheel in the CSM makes it as programmed as a SLOT MACHINE. You might get three 7s, or a pair of cherries and a bag full of sh--. You'd be better off playing video BJ at the bar, at least the drinks are fresh.
Write complaints and editorial in the local gaming news to educate novices from being succored/suckered by the casino authority figures. The modern gambler is not educated in the historical culture of the game, and DON'T KNOW that they're being ripped off.

Tell your friends to BOYCOTT fake blackjack.
