    UK rules

In the UK most casinos do not allow insurance.
I seem to remember Stanford Wong stating that not being able to insure costs 1/3 of EV, meaning about -.15 EV for UK games.

However, they do allow Sacrifice Splitting. Partner play can achieve this move and Wong says it is worth about +.25 EV.

Can anyone confirm these values for me?

    Thanks in anticipation....

Wong is talking about the EV for a BS player, which I assume is not your case. If you're counting, with any kind of spread for the shoe game, the cost of not being able to insure is upwards of 24% of ALL the gain attainable from using all the indices in the world.

You can, however, as I recall, insure a blackjack (take even money). Small consolation.

Sacrifice splitting would have to be simmed, once your spread and the rules are known.

Thank you Don. The .25 for sacrifice splitting comes, I think, from Wong...and my own spreadsheet calculations showed a .20 advantage. But

But I will try to get it simmed for the UK rules and, as you suggest, for the spread.

Again, those values have no meaning unless you're just playing BS, which, of course, makes no sense. You can't have any idea what it's worth in additional SCORE until you sim it.

Yes, I agree it needs to be simmed...thanks for your input.
