    Intro Post

    Howdy,

How's everyone? I recently went for a trip to Vegas for the first time and my cousin, who's a gambler, got me playing BJ. It was fun to play, and I won some money. So I did a little research and wondered just how sustainable it was. That’s when I found counting. So, I'm curious how everyone got their start? Did you buy a training program or did you find someone to teach you? I have seen a lot of promotions from BJA and wondered what the consensus was on it? I am currently trying to increase the accuracy of basic strat and doing fairly well. Thanks for any response!

Talk to Norm & Don about getting their Blackjack Verite simulation game. It is a great practice/learning tool.

BJA's YouTube videos are what got me started. They will help you learn the basics and to determine if this is something you'll want to devote the time to master. I recommend going through all the free content before considering a subscription.

Basic strategy should be learned to the point that it's a reflex. That will free your mind for counting. How to memorize the strategy is a personal choice. I used custom mnemonics with AnkiDroid flashcards. Others visualize the charts. Wizard of Odds and BJA have a list of rules.

I really like Norm's Blackjack Verite Drills mobile app. (Norm is the administrator of this forum) The app is extremely customizable and the drills on basic strategy and counting are effective. I've developed a genuine feeling of dread for that error buzzer

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
