How do I use the 7 side count with Hi Low ? When is there an advantage ? Thanks in advance.
Hi LoKee
Side counting other cards than the ace is not common practice other than for some specific side bets and since no one answered you, I will chip in.
I personally side count 789s as a group with Hi Lo and it really helps with insurance.
However, it’s theorized that with Hi Lo, if you are to side count one single card other than the ace, that the 7 is the better choice.
For betting purpose, you could add 0.5 to your running count for each 7 missing per deck.
That is a tiny gain at 6-deck or 8-deck but it is little more rewarding at 2-deck.
For playing decisions, surplus of 7s will help your 13-14 stiffs when hitting and hurt your 15-16s when hitting, something to consider when you are near the index play.
Deficits of 7s is interesting as it causes the dealer to bust slightly more often when he shows a Ten as an up card.
Side counting 7s is definitely more valuable at 2-deck than at 6D or 8D
