Code:Side Count technique Let's take Hi-Lo/A as an example. For Hi-Lo, the Ace is assigned a value of "-1" and this is the best value it can take for betting purposes. Unfortunately, "-1" is not the best value for playing decisions, so it would be better if it was "0" or "1", as it would improve the IC and PC/PE of the counting system. Let's look at some correlations: A = -1 BC: 0.9665 IC: 0.7647 PC: 0.7618 (only considering R22 plays) A = 0 IC: 0.8674 PC: 0.8219 (only considering R22 plays) A = +1 IC: 0.8908 PC: 0.8039 (only considering R22 plays) Taking these correlations into account, we can say that the ace should take the value of "-1" at betting time, "+1" for insurance and "0" for other plays. Now, let's move on to the implementation of the technique. Let's call the primary counting system "pc" and the secondary counting system "sc". Assuming 6D we would start at “-24” for pc and “+24” for sc. For playing we will use pc and for betting we will use pc + sc. insurance:Here we can make an exception and use the Ace as +1. For doing this you have to use pc – sc (instead of pc). Indices The ideal is to generate a new set of indices for the primary count (pc) but if you are used to the Hi-Lo indices simply subtract 4 from each Hi-Lo index. For insurance you can subtract 8 from the Hi-Lo index if you decided to count the Ace as +1. Note: The SCOREs above are for the Ace counted as 0 for ALL playing decisions.
