    Maximizing Comps

I am a low limit player and my max bet never exceeds $200. I am rated and I have a players card. So I try to maximize my comps.

Of course, most of the time, I am making table minimum bets. But when the count hits 1 or 2 or 3, and the pit boss strolls by, I say, “Hey did you see that bet I just made? You should be rating me at two hands of $XX!” They usually say, “fine” and end up rating me at my True Count 2 bet. Nice!!

So my question is, how far can I push this? I spread 1-10 or 1-12 and I never point out my max bet. I think I can get away with my TC 3 bet of 6 units or 2x4. Aged? P.s. I never bet black chips - I will have a stack of 6 or 7 green chips, but I won’t use a black chip.

P.p.s. I won’t identify where I play, but it is NOT in Nevada.

Very bad idea. Instead, you could say, "In case you didn't notice, I'm moving my money with the count."

Low limit table games players get very little in comps. It's more cost-effective to plau unrated, spread big and generate EV. If your primary goal is comps, play slots or 000 roulette.

Do not ever play rated counting BJ. You will regret it later in your career. You might not understand it now, but you will later.

The problem with not playing rated is that if your play gets noticed, you will be assigned a name and your wins will be recorded for further investigation. These days, some Vegas casinos watch your play and if your play is perfect you will be shown the exit door even if you did not vary your bets with the count. Be very careful of casinos where there is only one table available with double deck and having great rules: it is a card counter death trap!

You will need a clean name later in your career for better opportunities. I used to hear this all the time as I was first coming up, but didn’t really understand the power of that statement when I was new. Do yourself a favor and keep your name clean. Thank me later.

Are you suggesting legal change of name is enough to confuse any databases and allow you to play?

I’m simply saying DO NOT play rated if you are counting BJ. Simple. Can you get a legal name change later down the road? Yes. But you can’t change your face or your SSN. If you ever CTR or hit a jackpot in your birth given name, then that information will most likely be recorded into the casino’s internal database. If that information gets compromised at any particular casino (or worse! Any casino chain!), then even revisiting that casino (or casino chain) with a new legal alias later down the road will come with its own set of obstacles. Your “freedom” will be limited at any casino where that information was compromised.

So like I said; do not play rated BJ, unless you want more headaches in the future. G/L

I think this is pretty clear from how I understand the current environment. I'm very green, been training only a few weeks and I'm curious about what my play strategy should be when I finally hit the casinos. Is it OK to grind a small bankroll, or will that burn me early at low stakes and I will be unable to play at high stakes? What's the best bang for the buck as far as career longevity is concerned? I want to maximize my career, not my comps. I have not found an honest discussion about late career counters. The story basically is that you will get backed off and then it's cat and mouse to get a couple of hours of play and you can go back a few months later on a different shift. I feel like this isn't the whole story because there seems to be a lot of counters who have retired and I imagine a lot of that is due to the difficulty in finding a game they can get a lot of hours of play in.

Sorry for hijacking this thread lol.

Not quite true. You can change your looks and SSN but the SSN is not easy to do. You'll most likely get declined.
