Personally, I think this may be unwise. The human brain does not fully mature until the mid 20s. That's an average. Males may actually attain maturity later than females and must deal with testosterone. At age 18, your focus should not be on casinos.

Really the Kewadin casinos are just getting in line with all the other Indian casinos in the U.P. I think every Indian casino in the U.P. allows gambling at age 18. Some Indian casinos down state who got their gaming pact from the state later were required to have age 21.

Here is list of MI casinos that allow gambling at 18.

Couldnt agree more, numerous studies show a correlation between high testosterone levels and impulsivity and lack of "life" intelligence, and biologically these levels peek at 18 for most men

I don’t know - if you’re old enough to die for your country, you should be able to able to legally throw your money away in a casino.

Anyway, I know several 50 year olds who do not have the maturity to gamble responsibly.

Age alone does not determine the ability to gamble responsibly.

I think a better rule would be “No poor people in a casino”. You need to bring your tax return to get in. It makes me sick when I see all the people who lose money they can’t afford to in a casino. However, can you imagine the political outrage if you actually tried to keep poor people out of casinos!?

As a kid, I was addicted to dumping quarters into arcade games in the 80's. I had absolutely zero chance of getting any quarters back from those games, and that was completely legal. Why should it be illegal if I'm able to get some or more money back from other types of games?

Yes. There was a New Yorker magazine cartoon several decades ago of a cereal company board of directors meeting. One member stands and says: "I have a great idea: let's make cereal addictive".

It wasn't far off. Kellogg (a vegetarian, Seventh Day Adventist) was a surgeon who ran a health spa and came up with a healthful cereal. His brother formed Kellogg's in 1906 to sell cereal. Kellogg and Post (formed by a patient of the surgeon) soon created sugary cereals and the race was on, eventually leading to cartoon characters pushing sugar on children. Of course later, in 1913, Joe Camel pushed cigarettes. In 1991, about one-third of Camels were sold illegally to children.
