My detective work tells me Mr. Ed is Tasha

Moderators who still allow her to post in forum restrict her to start one thread at most a day. She has a disorder to start as many threads as possible if no restriction.

You’re not excited when there are 15 threads all starting within 2 mins of each other?

Speculation like this is not useful.

Don't think so. Tasha/Blackjack Newbie (plus 100 other handles) usually asks moronic questions. Mr. Ed's posts, while too numerous, aren't dumb.

Edited to add - After looking at Mr Ed's posts this morning, you may be right. The posts are pretty stupid and pointless.

Stuff like this never happened at Don's Domain. You trolled the site, you were banned forever. We could take down posts just as quickly as assholes posted them. I don't understand the politeness or reticence on the part of a host to ban forever people who have no intentions other than to disrupt. Forums like these aren't democracies. You have no "rights." Don't like that? Go somewhere else. After a while, when posts are constantly busted, the offenders eventually realize they aren't going to gain any traction or following, and they move on.

I was a member. As Don said, 100% signal and 0 noise.
Don, ever considered resurrecting it as a subforum here?

I think that because Don ruled with an iron fist is one reason why folks quit going there.

You're right; the assholes quit. Why would the serious people quit? Because they enjoyed reading the assholes? What sense are you making?

No, no such desire. But people need to understand something important. Yes, it WAS 100% signal and no noise, but you may be surprised to learn that that was achieved with an extremely rare banning of an individual or busting of posts. I stated the rules of posting upfront (see the archives here), and I think everyone understood that I intended to enforce them. And so, I think the threat of being banned acted as a deterrent to the potential assholes. It just wasn't worth it to someone to test whether I meant what I said or not. The pro was that you got to post something stupid or to foment trouble ... once. The con was that that got you kicked off the forum forever. Most people realized it wasn't worth it. And so, the discussions were about blackjack ... period.

We did bar two people forever, Clarke Cant and a psychopathic criminal friend of James Grosjean, whose handle I forget. Clarke was also simply there to cause trouble. He enjoyed disrupting, and I lost my patience jousting with him. And that was it.

And then no one is left and the forum closes.

This begs the question that trolling is necessary for a forum to thrive.

I contribute a lot to this forum mainly because I support New Yorkers. Many forums died because of global warming not because of trolling. I do have one advice to this forum: it will help bring new comers to join the discussion if you remove the “no” option to the question “do you find this post helpful?”
