What are your EV and bet spread can you get away playing long term?

Do you travel and if so how do you manage the cost?

    Do you use players card?

Do you employ other advantage play besides blackjack counting?

Our circumstances are clearly different. I’ve made 100k plus from more than 1 store. My lifetime is reasonably significant - all from straight counting. I have to travel as locally, I’m pretty much burned out - again significant EV over several years. Im retired with pensions (self employed), have good investments and have no liabilities with all of the important stuff paid for. I no longer have any major expense - educations and weddings for kids etc all paid for.

Counting is all gravy. My blackjack bankroll (separate from my mainstream investments) could be considered significant, which also includes stock investments separate from my primary. I still do work a few hours per week - not much in terms of a today salary, but based on time spent, would equate to high end professional wages,

Travel cost is minor. Driving expenses average probably $150 per day. This is good decent accommodation and bypassing junk food. Flying expenses (haven’t flown since COVID, though I’m considering a September trip) probably average $300 day. I normally limit trips to 3.5 days though I did take a 4 day driving trip recently. Slightly reduced by my knowledge of other markets and where the best deals lie with taking my own personal preferences into consideration. Also, flying expenses reduced by proper credit cards suitable for the purpose. It certainly helps to have a sky high credit rating.

I won’t sleep in my care, will never eat at McDonald's, will always dress with clean clothes, though don’t mind looking like a slob.

Tend not to use Players Cards, though these guys can easily find out who you are if they really want to. I selectively play some side bets at low stakes, but other than that, no other Advantage Play.

My philosophy to tipping has flip flopped over the years. I tip, don’t care if I tip, but I do keep it reasonable. Never get excited over a big win and seldom over a big loss. I’m relaxed at the table. I don’t look like a degenerate, don’t want to look like one. Prefer to appear enjoying myself at affordable stakes. I size up games very quickly knowing virtually instantaneously what I have to do to beat it.

There’s more, but this should suffice.

You are right, I’m very, no, extremely, greedy, and money hungry. I can’t stand spend so much time counting and only make $35-$50/hr.
    GREED KILLS
Did you say you’re willing to play 20% ROR. Note line above. Almost the entire planet would cum in their pants with $35-$50 an hour.

I guarantee you don’t have the playing skills necessary to overcome your limitations. This is not a condemnation, simply an educated observation.

I’m willing to pay 20% for my $50k. Why?

Flying cost around $300/day: same here, for both me and my wife. Air ticket is very cheap lately. Planes are usually not loaded at all. I think it is very safe to fly.

I do 3.5-4 day trip too. If I stay longer, I end up burning everything including the tribals or i would have to put up with bad pen. (6deck game cuts 2 decks, or 8 deck games).

I actually had good experience flying somewhere, but not booking hotel. I drive rental car, burnt out casinos and keep driving. This way I don’t have to stay in booked hotel when there are no place to play.

A good credit card definitely come in handy.

    @Raybabyetc.
Since my last response to you, I went to my one local haunt that I still play at. Store in question booted me 7-8 years ago on cumulative win (See Freightmans Forays thread). The first COVID opportunity to play, I graced their presence about 15 times winning 13/15. Closing again to COVID and the now current reopening, I’ve played another 10 or so times losing only once - a paltry $200. Returning home today, I’ve had dinner, taken a nap, pinched my wife’s backside and of course, paid the obligatory House Vig.

I don’t keep the quality of records that I used to - With limited spreads, I’m achieving “Excellent” hourly rates of return. You advised one humongous 35k win at 1 store before being walked out - I guess it would be fair to say your lifetime at that store is……….35k.

I don’t try to kill them - in fact I limit my wins. Granted, I know my days are numbered.

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
