    Exhibit CAA question, and introduction

    Hi Folks,

First post here, and early stage advantage player. Big thanks to Norm and the GWAE folks, I owe a lot to you gentlemen.

    3 things:

    1) Received my exhibit CAA in the mail today. I’ve been really excited to learn more about hole carding. Pages 248 and 249, the first pages on this subject, are missing! Now pages 247 and 250 are on the same piece of paper... which I’m guessing would mean there’s an error at the publisher level, but it seems unlikely since 248 should be a title page. Can someone take a peek at their CAA and tell me if they see the same? I find it highly unlikely there are fraudulent copies of this book going around, but you never know. If it is an issue with just my book I’d really like to know if there’s some great info on 249 I’m missing. I plan on reaching out to the publisher later today.

    2) Bob/Richard and guests have made it very clear your network is almost invaluable. I’d love to start building mine. If you’re a player in the Midwest specifically, I’ll be playing in our area for near future. As I travel more I’ll reach out again.

    3) So I gave this whole card counting thing a run at the beginning of the year, with a small bankroll and many user errors. This quarantine allowed me to buckle down and save up a good bankroll, and really hone my skills. Since then I’ve done 3 trips, 3.5 hours total, and netted 500 units. Someone please pop my bubble of optimism so I don’t do anything stupid

    Thanks!

Nothing wrong with those pages. The book has been out of print for a decade.

Where did you buy your book from? Maybe a dumb question but was this presented as a new copy or used. Like norm said this is out of print? I hope you didn’t pay a lot for a fake copy.

    mikejones,

First of all, welcome to Blackjack The Forum!

I checked my copy: pages 248 and 249 are present. I'd suggest contacting your seller.

    Hope this helps!

    OK, I'll pop it.

Don't get used to those results every time. Depending on the game and how good of a read you're getting, you'll eventually have those crushing days where nothing goes right. No different than a counter losing all of his/her big bets in those high TC shoes. It's going to happen.

Thanks folks. Here's a few pics. It's used, but not that much. Yes I paid way too much for it on eBay last month.

    D'oh!! My bad.

Either way, if he does get into it, my post applies.

    Were the pages ripped out?

Applied correctly, you'll earn the cost of it back and then some.

That's the reason I posted... back of page 247 is page 250. Meaning no pages were ripped out.

I have a really hard time believing this is a fraudulent book, but maybe I'm being too optimistic.

That third bullet was more of a bad joke. Norm's software tells me the "probability of this result or better" have been 7%, .9%, and 5% for each trip. I fully understand the lows will come, but I was so worried I'd hit a low right away and blow through my bankroll that it feels REALLY good to start on an upswing. There's definitely an emotional element to this gig, at least in the early stages.

I just checked my book and the pages are correct. Page 248 is just a chapter title page, so you're not missing anything. Page 249 is the first page of Ch 53. Is there anything essential on it? Not really. No game strategies, etc. I'd say the take-away from that page is about half way down:
"Preparing. First, you must do your homework."

Advice - if your goal is to primarily HC and play higher EV games, don't count cards. You don't want to burn out your local casinos by counting cards if there are better plays there.
And I hope that your handle isn't your real name. If it is, delete your posts and start over, immediately.

Thanks 21forme, that's exactly what I was looking for.

No, mikejones is an alias A one hit wonder rapper from 2005 who put his cell phone number in his song, I thought it was funny a long time ago and that alias has stuck.
