And so, prior to my 5th foray to the BJ pits, I had to make a decision. I absolutely wanted a hi limit table, and needed to make a decision between Casino C (2 prior visits) and Casino D, which I had not yet ventured to.

The factors were as follows. On 2 prior visits to Casino C, I recognized 1 only critter who didn’t recognize me. Regarding Casino D, it was not yet the busy weekend where I could blend in, and had to be concerned about
1. Ugly, as ugly on the outside as she is on the inside. 2. The Turk, critter on duty 7 or 8 years ago when the georgeous lady suit came down to tell me any other game but. 3. A senior Games Manager, canned from Casino C 2 or 3 years ago, now at Casino D. Certainly nice enough and present when security performed the most professional of all of my back offs, and who emphasized to me - nothing personal. Accordingly, I decided on Casino C for today, and a scouting of Casino D over the weekend.

I did not go through the main entrance (remove mask), instead opting for a side entrance (no mask removal) and proceeded to the hi limit room. My inability to secure a heads up table continued. I had a nice first shoe making about $800 with no real high bets. The second shoe was about to start when a fellow, unknown to me, sat to my left. He feigned trying to find his wallet, back counting to about 1 deck in, when he sat down with 2x100. As soon as the deck went negative, he dropped to 1x25. I reduced to 1x$50, allowing the bet to stand into negative territory, scoring a blackjack and a double before losing. Second shoe wasn’t bad making about $500. The 3rd shoe began, going immediately negative and we were both at 1x25, while the ploppy to my right was 2x50 and 100. At about RC -8, another critter walked in, whom I recalled quite well. As Tommy Smothers said - He always liked other players best. He was on the other side of the pit. I decided to bequeath the balance of the shoe to the “Unknown Player” while colouring up with the lady critter on my side of the pit.

The timing of the Wong Wasn’t the best, only about a 1.5 decks in. I’ve gone through many a similar show, ending with multiple max bets.

Regardless, after about 30 minutes of play or less, I left with a decent $1200 profit. I’m really not sure if the unknown counter pegged me or not, especially with the opposition type bets made (really not proper at that stage with my normal modus operandi)

And so, I continue with Freightman’s Forays.

I should have given backoff details on Casino C. About 7 or 8 years ago, with an up and down win loss record of insignificant dimension, I hit a non stop 6 week win streak approaching 20k. It was like a non stop schtickel that wouldn’t quit. (Should be noted that my weak performances elsewhere in town negated this win). It was very friendly, yet firm and professional backoff.

Anyways, I was concerned about my constant winning, even seeking advice from my friend, TimberTom. His advice - Never Lose on purpose - so I didn’t, and kept winning. Covid procedures at Casino C have to be graded as superior.

And thus, the stage is set for scouting of Casino D. I chose a busy weekend night. I entered, with Security directing me to step on a pedal, which said machine then dispenses sanitizing liquid, then directed to stand facing a machine, said machine then digitally announcing my normal temperature, okayed to enter - all done without removing my mask.

I roamed the casino floor noting no sign of Ugly and The Turk and the previously canned Games Manager from Casino C (previously mentioned). There were very few recognizable dealers and critters - even better - the 2 critters I recognized had very little if any prior contact with me.

As background, I always had a winning record at this store. The year of my backoff at this store was pretty good. I was up 50k by end of August. Lost 8k over September and October. Made about 6k first 3 days of November. Sat down to play one pleasant November day, bought in, was playing only a very few minutes noting at least one unknown counter to me, an Asian fellow who got up to 2x400. Anyways, this georgeous unknown lady suit from upstairs gave me the tap and said

Freightman, we’ve had your game under review for some time and your game us just to strong for us (no fucking kidding I thought). You may play any game but.....

I decide to play and found heads up conditions in the hi limit room. Also, it must be noted that Covid procedures were the absolute best yet. I had to buy in a couple of times due to unremarkable cards. Of course, the poppies from another table decided to invade my table. I politely played for a few more minutes, commented on shitty cards and moved to the just vacated ploppy table for renewal of heads up conditions.

I had to buy in a couple of more times, now in for a bit more than chump change. I was down to my last bet (chips in front with nice count) and won a couple of more allowing me to comment to dealer - I’m back in business. I played only 1 more shoe with good cards and hitting a nice streak, allowing me not only to recover my buy in deficit, but place a respectable additional $1500 on my side of the felt. Of course, cash out included a call to upstairs requesting the obligatory house photo opportunity - with mask of course.

I should point out my decisions for both Casinos C & D, not to unleash the full power of my fearsome Halves FBM Advanced System with Dual Ramp Betting. I will also make it a point to scout out both C & D prior to play.

Unfortunately not. The very private Blackjack Room was not open. The Excellent House Edge playing conditions provided are negated by the under table services provided by designated female staff, separate from dealers, who are, of course, provided with employer supplied knee pads.

2. I recall a young lady performing favours while I was driving my 1974 Fiat. Damn near stalled the car. However, I didn’t stutter. Mind you, I wasn’t talking either.

Im a senior citizen, collecting my Canada Pension and Old Age Security (not eligible for guaranteed income supplements. Affairs arranged in such a manner that I am able to collect Old Age Security). I’ve not yet begun to draw down on my RRSP’s, TSFA’s (Tax Free Savings Accounts) or stocks. I haven’t yet reached age 71, at which time, my wife and I will be required to start drawing down on RRSP’s (Registered Retirement Savings Plans).

I was married in 1976.

Suppose I should add that my gruelling 4 hour work, though not much in terms of a today salary, when equated to an hourly, pays high end professional wages.
