    Latest CBJN

Just got the latest copy of CBJN. It reads like an absolute horror story. It seems like Vegas has reacted very negatively after reopening.

Worse rules, worse pen, removing games entirely. The Golden Nugget getting rid of all bar two 3:2 games, really?

The rules are definitely worse from my personal experience. Heading out there this weekend for a few days. Will see if they have gotten any worse that they were now that more people are visiting.

According to this, Aria got rid of all S17 games, the D got rid of DD, so did others, some got rid of tables entirely, and there's a whole bunch of places with worse rules/worse pen.

I was last there in July. The D had DD then. El Cortez was the funniest. They dealt their single deck one round no matter 1 or 3 players playing (limited at table since Covid). One of the stupidest things I saw. They used to deal Rule of 6 at least. Pen was worst at many places except a couple I won't divulge here. LOL The worst is no backcounting because they will NOT let you stand close to a table and watch.

golden nugget had 5 dd games on the main floor for years and on my last trip in january they only have 2 so i'm not surprised they made their blackjack even worse

It would appear that, along with all the other damage COVID has done, trying to kill blackjack is now high on the list. I laugh at all those who predicted that, once we could return to casinos, we would likely find vastly improved conditions to stimulate play. Naive outlook by people who don't understood how truly ignorant casino management is.

golden nugget dd was pretty crappy with NDAS and pretty much a centre cut. Their 6 deck had decent rules and pen.

the juicy dd game on Fremont St was a dumpy place, hawked like no tomorrow and easily beatable with low spread. Never lost on that game. Heat was heavy and actually pretty humorous.

I travel from Australia to Vegas to play, and rely heavily upon CBJN to find games. The last time I went CBJN suggested the Nugget's $25 DD game was DAS. I was surprised to find, after about 15 minutes of play, it wasn't.

someine from Australia emailed me a few years ago - think it might have been you. I must have told you about a juicy $25 min dd game down the street. Did you play there?

I don't play in vegas...but do play all over the US...can say, unequivocally, pen is dealer dependent...YES, even joints with the notched shoes

Interesting point here. The pressure a dealer applies on the cards of a multi deck shoe while inserting the cut card will have an effect on deck penetration.

Very good post, other than the use of the word understood.

Freightman, see even Don received an undeserved o for two rating, it happens to the best. Now I will put a plus rating in there.
