    "Official" rules of the game

    Okay, dumb question time -

When playing blackjack at a given casino in the US, what actually defines the rules of the game? I don't mean which variations are in use, but instead the fundamentals like ">21 is bust" etc.

The closest thing I could find is this page from the Mass. Gaming Commission, but I haven't found anything similar for other states like Nevada - what would apply there?

I'm imagining this hypothetical: I have a dispute with a casino because the dealer claimed I had bust when in fact I hadn't. What would I reference in the lawsuit to say "these are the rules of the game"?

    1. We’re you actually playing 21 or some variant.
    2. The dealer is not authorized to make a ruling. In the event of a dispute, the critter is called. They can back up the cards (cards from previous hands are collected in a specified order) or surveillance can reload at the hand.
    3. Base rules should be posted at the table

Keep it simple. No need to make it more complicated than it is. Forget your hypothetical.

I don’t get it. The rules are very similar so you have to be more specific. Otherwise this has it..

The rules are the same and different in every casino. There are basic rules (as long it's blackjack and not a variation of the game)
    - natural pays 3:2 (6:5 should be illegal)
    - insurance pays 2:1
Every casino has their own rules when it it comes to H17 or S17, surrender or no surrender, how many splits allowed etc. They all have the rules right at the table. Obviously Spanish 21 rules are different. If that particular situation happened, at a regular blackjack table, if the dealer says bust, and attempts to take the cards, then you would politely ask him to recount before he puts them in the discard tray, if the cards are already discarded, politely ask for them to be checked,( be 100% sure) the pit boss will check for you. I wouldn't worry about hypotheticals too much though, you don't want the added stress!

You never have a lawsuit over one hand. Errors happen all the time. If you aren't fast enough to catch it just move on. There will be future errors in your favor that the casino will miss. It will be your chance to get your money back. Sounds like you haven't been playing blackjack very long.

MWP, I did the unthinkable. Can you figure out what it is?

I have never ever rated a post, never looked at any ratings I might have had but I suspect it’s 90 negative to 10 helpful. I still will not look at them.
