For the SCORE study of BJA3, counts considered can be found on p. 172. On p. 176, I also added Red 7, so, in all, a dozen counts were included. If you look at Norm's SuperSCORE study beginning on page 188 of volume 1 of Modern Blackjack, you will see on page 191 that eight of our counts overlapped but that he included Mentor, FELT, REKO, and KISS III, but not UAPC, K-O, or RAPC, which I used. Below, you can find one of Norm's charts listing most all of the popular counts used by players today.

    Zen Count

I am contemplating embarking on an extremely ambitious new project that would include an incredible amount of data even more voluminous than chapter 10. I would like to be as far-reaching as possible but, to not go completely crazy, would like to limit the number of counts considered to probably a dozen, as in BJA3. The question is, should they be the same dozen, or would you prefer any or all of Norm's four counts to replace some of those from my page 172? Obviously, there are still other counts as well (see above), but I don't see the point of using, say Silver Fox, if there are only three people in the country who actually use it.

So, considering that I will almost certainly use: Hi-Lo, K-O, Red 7, Hi-Opt I, Hi-Opt II, RPC, Halves, AOII, Zen, and UBZ2, which two additional counts would you like to see, assuming I stop at 12?

Thanks in advance for your feedback. (And, no need for a discussion or questions at this time. Just your vote for the counts would be appreciated.)

    Don

I don't see a point including the Uston or Revere counts. They have seen their heyday and fallen out of favor, though I know one other guy, about your age, who still uses RPC.

Ha! Norm will resent your calling him as old as me, if that was what you were implying (!), but, in any event, I will likely drop the UAPC and the RAPC, but it's very unlikely that I would ever NOT include the RPC, for obvious reasons. I also happen to know quite a few others who use it, myself excluded, so you'll have to indulge me.

Don, is that proper English? I thought it was supposed to be as old as I. Honestly not trying to be a jerk, I appreciate your attention to detail when it comes to proper English. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks. In formal writing, I would say you are correct. There are a great many posts on this topic on the internet, and most recommend I in this construction. But, less formal everyday speech seems to have made concessions for using the objective case, rather than the nominative. Not equivocating, but "as old as I" sounds stilted to me.

Don, I wasn't referring to Norm. There's a guy I used to team with often, who has counted cards and actively played for at least 30 years. He used to post regularly on BJ21 and had a sig line something to the effect, "May the dealer have a 16 every hand" or something like that.

Yeah, don't remember his name, but remember whom you mean.

Doctorbj, more precisely. I didn't know if he'd want his handle posted, which why I didn't do it initially. However, for the sake of accuracy...

At times it became confusing as two people posted with the same handle. The standard quote at the end of every post by one of them was the only way I could tell the difference. I knew the same one as you mentioned.
