Raise your hand if your portfolio DIDN'T lose 5 figures the past 2 days.
Just sick of this market. It's hard to believe I lost over $50,000 in the last 6 days. Can't do anything about it now. Just hoping this down turn won't be as bad as 2008.
I really feel sick when I look at my VLO stock. It lost 7.71% today. I purchased this stock at $70 just a few years ago, and just a couple of years ago it was as high as $126.98. Now it is trading at a little better than $66. However the dividend yield is now something like 5.47%. Don't know if they will have to cut the dividend.
Anyway, the only good news is my CD's are all now trading at a premium.

Probably in 6 months this will all be forgotten.

ah...liquidate...china, the 2nd largest economy, with japan close behind....i'll pass and sit this one out...spread is likely to get worse, including US, b4 it gets better...possible pandemic...schools over there are closing for months...unlikely to have Olympics, too...tried to bet...couldn't find.... liquidate and wait, imo...can't imagine you'll miss out on anything
Wrong.
You may not have lost the number of shares you hold if you have not sold...OR MADE WITHDRAWALS FROM YOUR ACCOUNTS...but you have lost value on each share you hold. People that are retired and are making monthly withdrawals from their accounts have lost significantly because the fixed dollar amount they withdraw every month ALSO REDUCES THE NUMBER OF SHARES THEY HOLD. If their shares are of less value, it takes more of them to equal the fixed dollar amount they are withdrawing every month. Your statement would only be true at the point which the market value returned AND if you held the same number of shares at that point.
