    Market Meltdown

Raise your hand if your portfolio DIDN'T lose 5 figures the past 2 days.

Just sick of this market. It's hard to believe I lost over $50,000 in the last 6 days. Can't do anything about it now. Just hoping this down turn won't be as bad as 2008.

I really feel sick when I look at my VLO stock. It lost 7.71% today. I purchased this stock at $70 just a few years ago, and just a couple of years ago it was as high as $126.98. Now it is trading at a little better than $66. However the dividend yield is now something like 5.47%. Don't know if they will have to cut the dividend.

Anyway, the only good news is my CD's are all now trading at a premium.

That's what I was thinking, too. Also thinking a good buying opportunity is near.

Also, I think he does want to know. he's always been nosy with his polls and questions.

I thought you once posted that after the 2008 crash you never got back into the stock market as much as you were before the crash. Anyway, I do remember you posting over at BJ21 that you sold a large part of your stock investments within something like 10 days of the market bottom in 2009. I think you said you were just sick of losing money.

Anyway for me the 2008 crash was pretty hard. I just took early retirement and was not old enough for social security. I had to make withdrawals from my 401(k). Today I can probably get by on my pension and social security without touching my investments. Besides my 401(k) is now about one third invested in a stable value fund.

At least you're consistent, obsessing on short-term results.

You haven't lost anything unless you've sold.
