Yes, it happens. Today, I went to a local casino, 6 deck shoe, $15 miinimum, count kept going up. I played just one shoe.I went from one hand to 2 x $15, kept losing, went to 2 x $100, dealer gets a BJ, place another 2 x $100, dealer gets another BJ, count is still up but I ran out of money (Down $800). I asked a ploppy if they would wait, went to the ATM behind me but someone else was at it and the dealer finished the shoe. I had pulled out $500 from ATM. Pissed off, I decided to go home.
As I was walking by the high limit area, saw the sole $25 DD table open. Penetration is bad (at best 50%) and it’s why I seldom play there. I started playing with the $500 I pulled out, went another $325 down, just $125 left. With a TC +2, a $100 bet out, not even enough left to double, I got a 17 vs a dealer up card of 8, thought I would surely lose but dealer had a 3 under, thought I was surely going to lose and dealer finds a 6, we tie. Next hand, I get A,7 against a dealer 3, $100 out, I double for less, put my last two green chips out. I win! After that, I kept winning the next two shoes, went up to $1350, left casino a $50 winner in about one hour there. I had played 1 6 deck shoe, down $800, played 4-5 DD shoes ( since they cut off 50%j I played about 5 decks, recouped myv$1300 plus $50.
Strane variance. I should have had more money on me.
