Taking a Second Look at Going to Vegas via Laughlin

A few months ago I did some research in going to Vegas by way of a comped flight to Laughlin. This is by far my cheapest option as I still qualify for a comped flight to Laughlin. Anyway here is the link to my old post on this.
    https://www.blackjacktheforum.com/sh...gas-by-Flixbus

However, in doing some recent research, I found some things have changed. Flixbus no longer stops in Laughlin, but it does stop in Bullhead City as does Greyhound. However there is no terminal in Bullhead City. Just a bench on side of the road and middle of the night pickup and drop off hours. I'm going to have to rule out Flixbus and Greyhound because of bad times and middle of the night safety issues.

Then my only choices are these shuttle options as I don't want to rent a car.
    1) Mills Tours has a lot of times, but quite expensive. Not much information on there web site.http://www.millstours.net/services.html
2)VegasAirporter looks pretty good. Again kind of expensive. http://vegasairporter.com/schedule/
3)Graylines look like a good deal but only go 2 days a week. https://graylinelasvegas.com/tours/l...-tour-6147_32/
    4) Tristate shuttle is another option. http://www.tristateairportshuttle.net/schedules.html
    5) Also Silver Rider https://www.sntc.net/wp-content/uplo...ress-Flyer.pdf

Has anybody used these shuttles? Is the greyhound bus station in downtown Vegas a safe area? It appears to be right next to the Plaza Hotel.

MWP, I just don’t get your aversion to a car rental. If you want to play DD in Las Vegas, a rental car is the best option. You miss out DD games at at least 10+ casinos. On the strip, you cannot find red chip DD games and depending on time of day and week, the $25/DD tables are usually crowded. I don’t think you play higher minimum games. Downtown, there are really only two casinos with decent DD games with the sweaty Spaniard as #3. Again, in the afternoon and evenings, they are often crowded.

Outside of those two areas, there are better games, hand shuffled and with decent penetration but they are separated by 1-10 miles. Costs add up if you use other modes of transportation.

Hire me at $100 a day or $125 a day with rental car, it’s cheaper!

Why wouldn’t you just rent a car? I’ve made that same comped junket trip to Laughlin a few times. The rental is the best way to go. In my experience, the flights don’t get to Laughlin until later in the evening and the rental car company closes by 5pm. So you can play the first night in Laughlin, then take an Uber or taxi back to the airport the next morning, then drive to Vegas.

If you do rent a car, then just be careful driving through a city called Searchlight. Speed limit is 25mph and it’s a well known speed trap.

MWP, not knowing where you are located, would a junket flight to Wendover be a better option? When I do LV, I always rent a car via Costco website or rental code. I check every 3-4 days and will change my rental when the rates change for the better. For a week rental, I average $85 - 120 bucks. It's a no-brainer to rent a car.

MWP - this is your perfect solution:

    Rtcws.rtcsnv.com/routepdf/1219/wax.pdf

Bus from McCarran to downtown for $2. I can't take credit for finding this. It was mentioned on the most recent GWAE.

Even better get the reduced Wax Bus fare for a $1.

Best of all ride for free if staying at Plaza Hotel downtown.

MWP, you can’t go to Las Vegas and restrict yourself to mostly lousy DD games downtown.

If I do the Vegas by Laughlin route, I will only have about 24 hours in Vegas. I never seen the downtown so that is part of the plan. Buses run up and down the strip. Heck, last time I was there I even took a bus to Palace Casino. I don't see why a bus won't work to get out to Red Rock casino.

Why only 24 hours in Las Vegas? Downtown is fun, different from the strip. You should skip Red Rock....too far away. Play DD at Golden Nugget (though no DAS) and 2 tables but pen is decent there. Golden Gate is the best but only one table of DD. The others are not worth it. Palace Station is the closest for good DD games and it’s 5 -8 minutes away. If possible, go to Orleans and, close by, Palm Casino. Palace Station and Palm are also, like Red Rock, casinos of the station casino chains. If it’s only 24 hours, those would be good DD choices.

Zee, I don't want to be in Vegas on the weekend. The Laughlin trips are only 4 nights, so basically I would go up to Vegas on one day and come back the next. I've been looking into this a little more. I actually made some calls and the Silver rider looks like the best bet. For $15 I can catch the Silver rider bus right across the street from the Riverside casino where I would be staying. https://www.sntc.net/wp-content/uplo...ress-Flyer.pdf I can then get dropped off at the Bonneville Transit Center and sign up for a reduced fare card for all of the Vegas buses. I do have a reduced fare card, but it expired in 2014 so I need a new one. From there I can hit all the downtown casinos and find a place to stay for the night. Then take the SDX bus back to the South Strip Transfer Terminal in the morning. I do need to get some playing time at Laughlin if I'm going to continue to qualify for free flights.

I was hoping to get on the charter flight out of the U.P. at the end of March, but it is already sold out. I'm on a waiting list if there are any cancellations, but doubt if I will be called. The last time I was on a waiting list for Laughlin I never received a call.

I understand, You should consider a longer trip the next time. Check Kayak.com for hacker fares from nearest airport to Las Vegas.

MWP, why are you opposed to renting a car? And why only 1 day in Vegas? I’d spend 3 nights in Vegas and one day in Laughlin.
