I'm baffled by the people who said they got "The infamous tap," when they were losing. I thought only Players who were winning got the "Infamous Tap,". :/
It’s not Players “who were winning” but players they think ”are capable of winning”. They might be watching you and they might determine that you are indeed counting cards AND betting appropriately at which point, they may decide to put a stop to you (whether you are winning or losing at that time).
I don’t think their knowing you are counting cards is sufficient. These days, given YouTube, forum, books and resources, means that a lot of people have a rough idea of how it works, bet more when there are more big cards to be dealt. So, a wannabe card counter sits at a $10 minimum game, ups his bet to $15, sometimes $20 at an 8 deck game, knows no variations, always stands on a dealer bust card, never doubles an Ace, 7 or an 8, has sat down at the table having cashed $60, they could care less.
I'd estimate that 75% of backoffs occur while down. A few reasons for this:
1. Casinos are vindictive.
2. When you are down, you let your guard down and
a. play too long
b. spread bigger than you would otherwise
edited to add - I indented the a. and b., but the forum took away my formatting.
I had won about $1830 over a weekend counting in Mesquite Nevada back in July. About $1300 of it from the two properties I was backed off from. I have threads up about how at Virgin River, I suddenly increased my bet way up from 30 or 40 to 150 for the next hand when saw a +5 count. I was feeling aggressive because I was winning pretty good. Unfortunately for me, a Pit Boss came over and looked through the discard pile, giving me a dirty look as he got further through it. I left without a backoff, played at the other property a bit, then on my return a month later I play one hand and hear "LugiaLvl138, you are not allowed to play Blackjack here or at the Casablanca." They used my real name, not my forum name.
After taking around 140 units from the Mirage, my next trip I showed up at the same shift and 10min in I get approached by the Floor Manger who said “AngryCounter (my real name), I’m the floor manager and I just wanted to let you know that you are on flat bet status” I just said “ok” pretended to look not fuzzed, but when he left, I was losing like 6 betting units and the count got to TC +2 so I decided to keep playing flat to make some money back. Well the joke was on them because the count stayed steady TC +2 a good 3/4 of the shoe and I lost everything... I’d say I won in terms of less money lost LOL.
i try to be as forgettable as possible. as long as they're respectful if they ask you to leave or no more blackjack just say ok no problem and leave. there is no point in arguing with them at all.
if they ask for id politely decline and leave.
it's couldn't care less.
and they shouldn't care but poorly run casinos do care and kick people out way too fast, most of whom are losing players.
Every casino is different. Some casinos seem to always kick you out when you're down. Palace Station has always kicked me out when winning. My winning sessions last way shorter there than my losing sessions. In fact I don't think I've ever been kicked out there while losing.
