    Aces Wild Side Bet

I saw this side bet offered at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this side bet, if the player gets an ace, the player has an opportunity to bet if the next card is a ten, making blackjack.

What is the average house edge? What card counting mnethods are possible to determine when this edge reaches zero.

I found this bet on WoO under the name Wild Aces. It pays 2 to 1 for any BJ, so in other words, it's mathematically equivalent to insurance (and therefore will have the same house edge). Definitely countable and I believe it even has a $100 max, but I think it's mostly on 6:5 tables.

Yeah, same as insurance...assuming it pays 2:1.

For a count, use an insurance side count. T,J,Q,K = -2 | A,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 = +1 | Start at an IRC of -4*total_decks | whenever the RC is below 0, it's a -EV bet. Whenever the RC is exactly 0, it's an even proposition bet. If the RC is above 0, then it's +EV. From what it looks like, you can also use that count for LL (same trigger point, RC > 0).

If you play 6-decks, start your running count at -24. Whenever you see an A-9, count it as +1. Whenever there's a face, count as -2. If the count is ever above 0, then insurance, aces side bet, and/or lucky ladies are all winning bets.
