OP...if you are buying in for $800 and then making $10 bets. trust us you have already made a monumental mistake. Your time there is very limited. You are already being watched very closely...and the second you begin winning any significant amount, well you will be backed off, if not sooner.

(Maybe I should open a new thread for the following post)

Question from a newbie regarding US casino play (only been in three small European casinos so far, only to get deterred by entrance fees, having to show identity card, few BJ tables, bad rules and CSMs there):

    - where should I buy-in (cashier's cage or BJ table)?
    - where should I buy-off (cashier or table)?
Should I color up at the table and go to cashier at another day / shift for not being tracked so easily?
(Especially in case should I have won a substantial amount of chips at a table)?

    - How do you transport your chips inside the casino? Using a plastic bag like in movie "21", a duffle bag like in Ben Mezrich's book, a smaller leather or fabric sac, your trouser or jacket pockets or even an acrylic 100 chip rack? (Sometimes I see people palming their chips in their hands but this seems to work only with maybe 5 or 10 chips).

You nailed it Zee, at a local store I saw a counter got greetings from big boss with hand shakes and smiles. It happened few times and then same boss gave him the tap.

At one of CEC store they use the RFID chips to track where the chips go so they know how much you have with you without color up, even you "hamstering" during play at table.

When I see this I remind myself what (don't remember who, maybe Freightman) pointed out that these people aren't my friends and the banter is empty. Their main goal is to empty my pockets.

Thanks for the info! I just wasn't sure whether it could alert the pit boss when I bought in e.g. for 300 bucks in red and green chips, and then in case I won 200 and color up, they give me back 500 using five black chips and then say "Checks play!" or something. Or just recognize there are higher denomination chips in my return.

I read of this RFID technique in conjunction with container shipping about 10 years ago, but am not sure how many casinos are already using them, and for what chip denominations. Sounds evil, like the MindPlay tables. Recently I saw some MindPlay decks of cards on the internet and that there are barcodes printed on the cards which seem to be only visible in UV light. Sort of espionage or CSI stuff.

In my BJA3 book, on p. 119, there is Table 8.2 regarding Bankroll Requirements. Do you really mean page 119?

I was so tongue in cheek on that one - I was saying that Dins comment about critters being pieces of shit could be more adroitly described on page 119 on BJA3. I wasn’t serious.
