Mild Casino heat in Mesquite NV?

I've been counting in Mesquite this past weekend and have received three forms of "mild" heat.
First off, I told a dealer that I remembered him since dealers in Mesquite have their home town
or country on their nametag and he was from Wendover, which is effectively my "home casinos"
due to me living in Utah. He said I remember you too, and then said card counter under his breath.
I played for a bit and left.

Second, at a different casino, I put out a 150 bet, way higher than what I normally bet because
running count was +5 and true was +3.5 or +4. I saw a pit boss go through the discard pile, like
they wanted to see if I was just a random guy with a gambling problem, or if I really knew what I
was doing. I lost that hand and am wondering if that's why I wasn't backed off. I knew that the
Pit Boss knew that I knew my stuff, so I exited after a few more hands with no extra heat.

Third, at the last casino on my final session, I rocket up 500 very quickly betting 25, 50, or 75
depending on count. The two decks were reshuffled after about 75% penetration, I lose a hand
or two, the count goes to -6 running and I see a pit boss staring at me. I color up, tip the dealer,
and say out loud "I should have time to make it to Cedar City in time for the Pokemon Go event
today" followed by actually cashing out and leaving town.

All in all, it was a wonderful +$1830 trip, combined with the first Casino heat I've ever been given
in my life. I won $1300 in Wendover two weeks prior with zero heat. I'm wondering if I should avoid
Mesquite for a month or more, hoping they forget about me.

I wouldn't call that minor heat if the pit boss was going through the discard pile. I was flat betted at a casino within 5 minutes after the pit boss went thru the discards.

Sometimes PCs just go through discards to see you’re reaction, more often than not they have no idea how to count not that it isn’t a form of heat. I’ve seen one go through the discards looking at the backs of the cards, another pull all 2.5-3 decks played out of the discard tray and flip through them in about 15 seconds, and yet another go through the discards when a ploppy doubled a hard stiff hand.

My reaction was inward shock and disbelief, while attempting to remain calm outward. I knew I had just received heat, hence why I bounced after less than 5 minutes. I don't even remember exactly what the hand was, I think it was I stood Hard 15 against a weak upcard and dealer didn't bust. On my last trip to Wendover, I saw a ploppy always double his Hard 12s. Every time he did it, the dealer said out loud "Doubling on breaking hand."

Agree with MWP that it is not minor heat. One of the issues for beginners is that if you start out counting in your home town where you are tolerated and then venture out in a new casino and play the same way and suddenly you get picked up quickly without you realizing it.

I'm curious about Wendover. What kind of betting spread were you using and what was your unit? How many hours to win the $1,300. I feel like I got heat in Wendover earlier this year.

I started out doing about $10 to $40 max, but my most impressive run there was buying in about $200 at a $25 min table and running $25 to about $60 or so. When I colored up for 950 and the dealer said "Color up 950 Black Out" some Pit Critters seemed to do a double take like they wondered what just happened. It took me about 12 hours of gambling there to win the $1300, and keep in mind that I lost half of my initial $600 bankroll on arrival, but left with $1900 total for +1300. Also during that trip, I put out a $100 bet when I saw a +2 or +3 count. I was dealt 11 vs dealer 10, doubled without hesitation, and lost. 90% of my play was at the Rainbow, but I also won at both Peppermill and Montego that trip.

Did you tombstone 12 hours in a single session without a break. Or over multiple times?

Cus iirc Peppermill banned me within the hour on the DD (1-4 spread only too), and Atlantis?

The poster is talking about Wendover, not Reno. There are no DD games in Wendover. From what I hear Reno is much more sweaty than Wendover.

Wendover is tough if you don’t have a Utah address on file or aren’t on a charter. One of those two pretty much a requirement.

That is correct, Wendover is 95% Single Deck, H17, No Surrender, No Double After Split, Penetration about 60%. They have a few 6 deck shoe games, I am unsure on the rules because I play SD. I have already established that I do live in Utah. And I did not tombstone 12 hours straight. In fact, after I believe a 4 or so hour straight session, I was so loopy from all the mental work, that I thought I heard someone say "Lugia" on the casino floor trying to get my attention. I immediately took a break. Mesquite was DD, Penetration about 75%, No Surrender, Double After Split Allowed.
