The theoretical edge of a HC BJ game is about 13%. In reality, it's closer to 10%, as there are a number of plays you can't make, such as hitting anything greater than or equal to a hard 17, or splitting 2s against a T up, and so on.

As soon as I saw the 10% figure associated with a BJ game, I immediately knew to what he was referring. As I said, that's something that comes with experience and thinking beyond counting. I've had plenty of "duh moments" over the years, overlooking high EV plays by simply bypassing what one usually considers an unbeatable or stupid game.

I share his sentiments. Card counting is the LAST thing I would ever resort to using in a casino. I'd rather just leave.

I was disappointed to see this at the Horseshoe...It makes me wonder about ever worrying about cover/longevity and just play as strong as possible when you can find a game...How much longer are any of us going to last?

This subject really should not be discussed on an open forum, this discussion is making me uncomfortable. There’s definitely been an uptick in casino awareness about it over the time that I’ve been active for precisely this reason starting at post #2. Ego’s have a need to be fed though.

I forgot it was 70's or 80's, on my earlier trip to Las Vegas, I sat down at a table intend to play BJ. After three or four hands, I found out it is not BJ, but a game like Spanish 21 but different name. Never seen it before in Atlantic City. I had to immediately color up.

A while I think. The shop next door has many opportunities. As do a couple others in town.

I don’t even do that kind of play and it ticks me off when people talk about it.

Yes, I hope...but it is disappointing. I can only imagine how crappy things must look to someone that's been around for decades. One of the "other shops" that was my go to place 15 - 16 years ago when I first learned to count, would have several tables of deeply dealt DD...$5 min! They other day...one...ONE DD game...playable but nothing like the several tables of 70 - 80% DD they used to spread.

Oh well, bitching won't change anything...
