Can't be said enough. 6:5 is not blackjack. It's a scam.

Just today I made an interesting observation on this subject when rereading the "Knockout Blackjack"book by Vancura/Fuchs. On page 35, they calculate why you should not take Insurance ("Even Money") when having a natural and the dealer shows an Ace. Because the net profit when REFUSING Even Money, namely 4/13 * 0 + 9/13 * 3/2 = 27/26 = 1.038 times wager is greater than 1 wager. But this is dependent on the BJ payout rate. What would happen if you replace 3/2 by 6/5, I wondered. The new result would be 4/13 * 0 + 9/13 * 6/5 = 54/65 = 0.83 times wager, which is smaller than 1 wager. So in the 6:5 case you SHOULD take Even Money, n'est-ce pas? But I assume the casinos do not offer Even Money for 6:5 games.

Far as I know, you can take even money on 6:5 games but it’s irrelevent. It still will not make you a winner.

Yes, surely. The "Insure my natural?" situation occurs much too rarely. It's an academic question.

    That's correct, with rare exception.
