"replinishable"
(My rookie good variance was still going strong). When the parenthetical phrase is a complete sentence, the period belongs inside the parenthesis
Now that that is out of the way, excellent post, RCJH!

RCJH: great post, much of which I did not follow and maybe its the reason where I am now, burnt out and less motivated than ever. Some comments. Like you, I came to the conclusion that "I did not have the internal fortitude to do this full time. For me, the perfect balance is a full time job and part time AP. Find your own work / life balance."
As regards playing rated. If you are someone who lives with just 3-5 casinos locally and you are playing it locally, they rate you, whether you have a players card or not. If you play red chip, small spreads and short sessions with a good cover (they assumed I was a doctor for a while), you can go a long time. I lasted 4+ years before the first counter measures started showing up. By the time counter measures took place, I had players card that, to this day, despite also being placed in OSN, provide me room comps in Las Vegas. I was probably caught and counter measured in Missouri because they use some type of algorithm that is a combination of win/loss ratio, positive won/loss year end record for 4 years in a row and such. I dont have regrets about playing rated.
One of the things that T3 said about pit guys and dealers loving you till they dont sticks with me. On another forum (bootcamps and costly), there are a whole lot of newbies and its interesting that so many respond that the pit is clueless, very very friendly as are the dealers and everyone at their local casinos. I went through all that and for 4 years, one local casino was like my local "cheers" bar. Everyone knew me, greeted me by name, were very very friendly. $ years later, on one day I went in, it seemed that someone higher up had figured out I was a card counter (won/loss record was one give away) and ordered them to get rid of me. Pit did not greet, dealer did not meet my gaze, they ignored me and counter measured me (1/3 deck dealt in DD, 3 deck cut off in 6 deck. It was a shock.
My guess is that newbies lose their local casinos within 1-4 years and it depends upon how blatant their spread is and how often they win. One recommendation I would add is to check your win/loss record regularly at any casino you play rated at.
One final conclusion is that unless you have the cojones to play Green Chip with max bets over $400, it is really hard to win much after you burn out your local places. When you cannot play locally, have to travel, you will not earn much after expenses. If you dont or cant play aggressive at the Green Chip level, then travel eventually gets you as life becomes a grind. For some, being away from home, the change in sleep patterns, the food, all brun us out.
Zee, we all tried to tell you that the dealers, etc, didn't give two shits about you. You refused to believe it, thinking that they loved you as much as you loved them. A casino is a business. It isn't just your win/loss record. How many times did you get a dinner comp? You brag about your room comps; how does that look to them? Greedy greedy greedy. Do you really think that if you ran into any one of them outside of the casino they would say hello to you? Not s chance. They are in the customer service business. They are paid to smile at you and laugh at your jokes.
If you play unrated, and get backed off, you may get databased, but not under your own name. You go in as "Unidentified Male #1234". You protect your name.
Now they have your name, and they know you aren't a doctor. You're probably the butt of their break room jokes. That may hurt your feelings, but it shouldn't. They weren't your friends to begin with.
