    Am I wasting my time?

Hi there guys made a thread the other day about casino edge and today I found out my casino uses csm on all its small tables and only has a manual dealer at the 100$ min table and high roller room. I just bought 2 books and was looking to study blackjack but what do I do now? Do I have any options or is it pointless as those games can't be beaten? Game really intrigues me so don't want to give it up but at the same time wanted to make money from it. Thanks in advance.

There's other casinos I don't think you'd be wasting your time it's just another investment opportunity but you probably have to travel. Maybe good time take your wife on a few day trip if you're married if not go by yourself good luck to you

I wish I knew how to beat CSM's. I know a juicy game dealt out of one. I don't know if it's possible to beat them. If it is, those who know are tight lipped about it.

Think of some places you'd like to travel, then look them up in CBJN and see if they have any tables you can play. Counting might currently suit you best as a hobby to do while on holiday.

Thanks for the replys guys, I live in Aus and the next casino is 800km away so it's gotta be a holiday thing. I will still study and read the books and play poker as I do now. Is there any online casinos where you can count? I highly doubt it but thought I would ask. Thanks.

Also guys if on the main floor there is only 1 shoe game wouldn't be a lot harder to count as all the attention would be on that table?

Where abouts in Australia? If its a Crown casino (Perth and Melbourne) dont bother. Over the last few years they've degraded their main hall games to H17 BJ Plus and put CSMs on just about every table, even for Pontoon. That and they have the occassional card counter witchhunt. If you want good hand shuffled games you'll need to play high minimiums like $50 or $100.

The best games are in smaller cities now, such as Hobart, Gold Coast, Canberra, Darwin, Alice Springs and Brisbane. The "big four" (Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide) are really bad now.

Can i ask the rules of the juicy csm game you mentioned? And do they shuffle after every round or do they deal a couple decks first?

I'd rather not say all of them, but if it were dealt from a shoe, the HE would be 0.27%. I don't know how much pen they give, I haven't watched. Knowing the table games director, he most likely has them put the cards back in every round.

Not likely that you will be able to do anything to beat a CSM straight up. You need something else going for you like a turnover rebate on your action or some sort of marketing offers in excess of what you're expected to lose on the play. You can trim the edge a little bit on the CSM by betting more when lots of small cards were played on the previous round but that's about it. Such rebates are usually only for people with front money on deposit or a credit line and for action in the high limit room. Sometimes through the Asian Marketing Dept.

The chance of drawing a picture card after a run of small cards is much less than what most people believe. Let's look at a few examples for 6 deck BJ and SP21/Pontoon after 5, 10 and 20 small cards have been dealt.

Chance of drawing a picture off the top:

    BJ - (4*4*6)/(6*52) = 30.77%

    SP21/Pontoon - (3*4*6)/(6*48) = 25%

Chance of drawing a picture after 5 small cards:

    BJ - (4*4*6)/(6*52-5) = 31.27%

    S21/Pontoon - (3*4*6)/(6*48-5) = 25.44%

Chance of drawing a picture after 10 small cards:

    BJ - (4*4*6)/(6*52-10) = 31.79%

    SP21/Pontoon - (3*4*6)/(6*48-10) = 25.90%

Chance of drawing a picture after 20 small cards:

    BJ - (4*4*6)/(6*52-20) = 32.87%

    SP21/Pontoon - (3*4*6)/(6*48-20) = 26.86%

So even after 20 small cards have been dealt the chance of drawing a picture card is only around 2% greater than neutral probability.
