Sorry, do you know who Prof. Rose is? In no way, shape, or form is he a supporter of casino machinations. He is on our side. I keep refs and email alerts to his blog on the subscription forums because I believe he has a better understanding of international gambling law than any other human.

This is one of the dumbest opinion articles I’ve ever read. You could tell his anti-casinos bias from the first paragraph: “You know your industry is in trouble if the most current product you offer your 21st Century patrons is bingo.” What? I’ve been to a lot of casinos and never seen bingo offered. He must be going to different casinos then me. Lol
What planet has this guy been living on? The casinos industry is thriving...it’s not in trouble. Hasn’t he seen the growth of it here in NA? Casinos are opening up right and left. Has he ever been to Macau?
As far as his new technology replacing old technology examples, he could have also included stagecoaches. This one is used a lot to illustrate this point. There aren't as many stagecoat producers today due to the invention of the car. Lol. There are a lot of other good examples showing how new technology replaces old, and causes some industries to go out of business. It’s something everybody already knows.
It looks like this article was written by an Intellectual who had too much time on his hands. His basic point is Millennials don’t like slots, and yes, that’s a real problem for the caisno industry. I’ve read several articles on this and the things casinos are doing to try to address it. Making fun of casinos beacuse he thinks Bingo was the last invention in gambling is just plain silly.
Bingo has been in Vegas and surrounding areas for as long as I can remember. Although, I don't think there has been any bingo mid-Strip for a while. Red Rock alone has a 610 seat bingo hall. Gold Coast has over 700 seats.
He gave a presentation at the University of Macau six weeks ago and has written on the effect of the current trade wars on Macau. He was also in Macau in May for the International Gaming Summit and the Annual Review of Macau Gaming Law.

Norm, thank you for your reply. I know in my neck of the woods casinos are flourishing. It seems like every year a new one is opening. I think you missed my point when I said “has he been to Macau?”. I should have said has he seen what is going on in Macau? Casinos have exploded there over the last couple decades, to where I think that area has overtook Vegas. My point is the casino industry is not “in trouble”. That was the premise of his article. Are there things they can do to get better? Sure. But I think this is true with all industries.
As far as bingo, I’ve never seen it in a casino but it makes sense that there are some Vegas casinos that probably offer it.
I think you’ll find several gambling experts that would disagree with Rose’s belief that Bingo was the latest invention in gambling. I thought that was a cheap shot. He knew what he was doing when he made that comment. He was more or less making fun of the casino industry .
Every post you make has a severe casino employee bias. How do you expect anyone here not to think you work for the casinos. We have had a lot of casino employees that were valuable contributors to this site. They were honest about being a casino employee and helped us understand what we can't see happening in a casino. They were not casino slaves and more or less sided with our side but made money from the casinos as an employee and an AP. Your steadfast pro casino perspective will make everyone assume you are a casino employee whether you are or not.
I get invited to bingo at most casinos in casino cluster areas. I never go so I wouldn't know if the solo casinos offer them or not. I haven't noticed any offers but that doesn't mean they don't have them. I never cared to ask.
