    Hole Card Strategy

What is the proper resource for h17 hole card decisions? I was hoping to find something more than just a basic strategy. A count dependent strategy would be great. If anyone has a link to a book with the information I'd appreciate it.

You'll most likely need "Beyond Counting: Exhibit CAA" for the differences between S/H17.

Also, counting doesn't add much more value, so don't worry about that.

I believe Modern Blackjack is the only book with hole-carding indices. It also cons H17/S17 basic strategy tables for single-deck and six decks.

Do you mind if I ask why you’d like to still count while playing the hole card? If you see it every time and use basic cover you have a 10% edge without much brain power! Seems to me counting would just add fatigue.

Well, the situation is a poorly designed layout so I will play with multiple dealers. Some I expect to get every card, but others I will probably only get it sometimes. When I am only getting occasional reads I plan to bet with the count and use hole card info when I can.
I do not consider counting to be any extra effort so I will plan on always counting so I can make as many correct plays as possible. I am a part time player with time constraints so I want to take full advantage of the table time.

You don't want to risk getting barred for counting during a hole card play.

If you use the count for playing decisions only, they're not likely to notice.

If OP (minbet) indeed has a ++EV opportunity at this casino, as was suggested he shouldn’t count there anymore. Since he’s new to hc and it’s most likely not a pitch game, he should play basic strategy (or Wong out if possible) on any hands with no additional info.

I would also advise BS. But, if you used an index strategy solely for the HC hands, you would be using an essentially unrecognizable strategy. You would not look like a counter or a HCer.

That’s all fine and dandy until OP’s favorite dealer is on a CSM. Now he’s only a one-armed minbet.

No CSMs at this spot. Hardly any ASMs. I will flat bet and play the HC basic strategy from Norm's book as long as this opportunity lasts.

It's BETTER to have that "favorite dealer" on a CSM instead of a shoe game.
