I get the ploppies to ask to see it. But I don't care if they do or not. Changing the pen by a card can increase SCORE by two to four percent. But the heat asking to see it brings may not be worth it. hen I started out I would ask and some dealers would make it clear to the cameras who asked by specifically showing it to that person in a way that could not be mistaken. I knew that meant they may take notice of who asked. For me longevity is always worth giving up a little EV for.
When counting, you count all cards seen. If you don’t see the burn card, it’s not counted. If you see the burn card, either by accident or by design, that card is counted. Index play will not change, except in principle due to changes in true count as noted below.
That additional 1 card seen will have increasing effects on betting the deeper in the shoe you go. In a deeply dealt 6 card shoe, it could easily be the difference between a max or super max bet, a neutral vs. A 2 unit bet, etc. Etc.
Don’t forget the effects of floating advantage in a deeply dealt shoe.
