Paymypush what you say is true! I walked around MS recently disappointed. I asked a dealer why the rules were changed and he said that he just does what they tell him to do. They didn't meet with the dealers and give an explanation. The $10 6:5 games are now officially one of the worst games in Connecticut. I think the $1 game with ante plus CSM at Foxwoods tops it in that category! The penetration at the 6:5 pit was two decks cut off. I checked other pits and the best I saw was 1 1/2 cut which gave me hope! Then I saw a dealer, a new guy, cut the decks using the notch on the side of the shoe. If that is what he was taught recently, then that is what is officially expected.

I got a kick out of watching an older lady clap for joy when she got a blackjack and the dealer paid her the 6:5. lol It didn't matter to her.

I discovered that there still is an oasis of 6D for the average player. The weekend pit in the wind casino has not been converted. So, nothing has changed there. The old rules still apply at least for now.

At least not this morning which has always been the norm for a Saturday. Did you notice that the blackjack tables by the poker room have been removed? They were the Duo Blackjack and Diva tables.

Excellent post. It’s pretty easy to understand why most people don’t care if bj is 3:2 or 6:5 when they can’t stay off the sucker side bet. The side bet on the bj games I play has about a 10% house edge. Most the time I’m the only one not playing it, but I will still have as many as 3 ploppies playing on my side bet at the same time. The locals think I hit it more than they do.

I don’t think it matters much to ploppies if they’re playing 6:5 or 3:2. If they aren't counting, they are going to lose playing either game, and I think most know this. They are just there for entertainment but they still hope they will get lucky and win in the short term.

Thanks for reminding me about the side bet. They tweaked Match the Dealer only on the 6:5 tables. Dealers have been telling the players that it makes up for the lower blackjack payout. A couple of the payouts have been raised slightly much to the delight of the adoring fans.

Yeah, how ploppies think about the side bets cracks me up. I regularly hear them say “the side bet is the only thing keeping me in the game” as they are pulling out 100 after 100 to keep going. I always tell them the good thing about bj is the casinos will let you keep playing as long as you can keep refueling.
