is there any game that is good enough to count? preferably around the melbourne airport.
The only casino in Melbourne is Crown Casino, which is probably a good 30 minute drive away from the airport, more with traffic. Conditions are less than desirable, with 8 deck shoes, H17, 3:2, OBBO, D9-11, DAS, SPL3, NRSA. HE is around 0.76%. Pen can be good (1-1.5 decks). However, the mins for shoe games are $50, which is absolutely appalling for the ruleset.
I can't confirm it for all Aussie casinos, including Crown, but BJ and Pontoon shoe games are countable in all casinos that offer these games. A punter needs:
1) Higher bankroll from 25K to 100K,
2) An ability to move around faster both within a given casino and between multiple casinos (hit and run, hop and run).
3) Diversified skills that go beyond traditional counting. For example, some side bets such as blackpot can also be exploited on busy tables (where you only play side bets on others' hands).
It is worth checking all casinos again after few months - at the start of next summer. I would be working to find out the busiest time periods for each casino.
If CSMs become too commonplace, some one is going to crack them. CSMs are beatable, but that process is going to be time consuming and tedious.
Hmm, I was doubtful about Sydney and Canberra. I am still more hopeful about Adelaide, Alice Springs, and QL. Wikipedia article is pretty dated, but Adelaide was offering it in the main hall until recently, a year ago. I have observed variability in Queensland as casinos replace CSMs with shoes (and vice versa) every other year.
