I would only split the 10's if the dealer upcard was a 5 with a TC of 5+ or a 6 with a TC of 4+.

And if the shoe is still ace rich? Further, are you slash and burn or longevity. Are you at stakes that make the invitation for the tap worthwhile, is are you talking about a $100 max bet. If the latter, why would you burn yourself out while you're still nit seasoned?

The index is even higher than doubling on soft 20. For Hi-Lo users, it is about +18. So basically you should forget about it.

Actually, I believe the index is more like +8 vs 6. The index for doubling A9 v 6 is only +4.

Why would you?

I agree. Part of making the right decision is about weighing certainty not purely chasing EV. Another aspect is avoiding heat. Splitting T,T draws a target on you enough already without trying to double the 21 it gets you. Part of winning is being allowed to play. How much EV is worth losing the ability to play?
