Thread: Las Vegas

    Las Vegas

I will be in Las Vegas soon for work and had a couple questions.
I am a recreational player. I spread $10-75 locally without any heat. The games around me are 6 deck, 3-2, H17, doa, das, and pen is usually about 5/6 although occasionally it is 5.5/6. I do not play any cover except I do not split 10s.
I will have my evenings open and would like to play while I am there, but reading through the threads has me worried that I will get backed off even playing at my low stakes. I was thinking that if the chances of getting backed off at my stakes are still high on 6d that I would just play 2d games and short sessions. Are there any specific places I should avoid if I am employing this strategy?

Also, I have enjoyed reading this forum for quite awhile and just wanted to say thanks for all the solid content.

I'll let others currently on the scene in LV comment, but you likely have it backwards. DD games are watched very closely in LV, and they are often referred to as counter traps, since many believe the best opportunities lie there. If you can find decent conditions in the classier places, so you don't have to play in dumps, you're better off with the 6-deckers, but at your stakes, good rules are tough to find.

I recognize that DD games are going to get more scrutiny, but I was saying that if I will get backed off on a 6D anyway I might as well play the better game. I do not plan to give any identification or come back to any of these casinos for at least a year (probably several years) so while a backoff is not ideal it would not bother me that much. As for stakes, I can afford to play a little higher than I do, but I am mostly playing for fun so I keep to a level where I am confident that the places in my area are not going to sweat my action.

I do not think you’ll get backed off spreading $10-$75 on 6D, even in Vegas. There’s a lot of joints that will even take that action on DD to be honest. If you plan on keeping your top bet below $100, you’ll probably be fine at most places.

Got backed off at stratosphere some years back playing low stakes 10-80 or so. Was beaten up a day Or so before and was crushing it on back off day. Interestingly enough, add to the equation a heads up game with an absolutely phenomenal al dealer, likely cruising at 300 hph. I did wonder if that tipped off eits.

Was also playing low stakes at the plaza, and got backed off there.

I've also played reputed sweat shops, with no countermeasures. In the end, who knows?

    Possible interesting sub thread.
Dealers capable of supersonic play, players capable of keeping up. Assume heads up. Is that a tip off for pit and eits.

Tropicana will eventually tire of you, but they're really really nice about it when they do.

Not saying that there won’t be some super dumps that will back you off for those tiny stakes, but I think overall, he’ll be fine at most places. At the top of my head, I can think of a few places that would probably back him off, even at those stakes: Fiesta Rancho, Texas STN, AZ Charlie’s, Suncoast, maybe EC, etc... I’m sure there’s more that I’m missing.

It’s really luck of the draw too sometimes. But the OP should be able to log in as many hours as he wants for the trip at those stakes. Where as once your stakes cross a certain threshold, getting hours in Vegas is almost impossible.

I'll avoid that list. What would you say the top bet threshold to stay under is? Will spreading to $100 instead of $75 make a big difference in heat? The places I play the dealer will announce checks play when someone bets $100, but it does not seem like it impacts how the supervisor watches it.

Stealth quoted in another thread that there are 750 casinos in the US. I doubt all of them offer blackjack. Just saying, do the math. Also, have some logic. Thus you see why I delete?
We can be nice can't we ?
